My Notes edit

My self-summary

I'm a 25 year old genderfuck living in San Antonio. I'll be leaving in March to move to Portland with my amazingly handsome partner. We're pretty damn excited. I have my own sense of style and in my mind's eye, I'm a genuinely hawt kid. I love stripes, textures (corduroy, suede), and sweaters. I like to take my dog with me through the bank drive-thru. We do that a couple of times a month. He loves it. I have been working on the same short story for four years which I refuse to give up on it. I think I was meant to live near the sea. I was offered a lot of money to join the Navy and declined it. Somedays I regret that decision. I don't like to talk about The War with people that I don't trust because my own feelings are so conflicted. I'm a liberal that was born to a Vietnam Vet that I'm immensely proud of. I am mostly attracted to androgynous girls and other genderqueers. I will read the same books over and over and over if I love them. I think I've read my favorite book at least 40 times. I am obsessed with the My Stalker feature of OkCupid. I worry about the ocean and the rain forests. I'm an idealist but I firmly believe that "growing up" is a nice way to address the killing of dreams.

What I'm doing with my life

I work for a major chain home improvement store. I'm a "merchandising execution associate" which means that I'm the one that makes those clay pots look nice. You're welcome. One day, I'm going back to school to pursue Architectural Engineering. I want to build super highrise buildings in Hong Kong. For real. If I don't do that, I'm pursuing writing full time. Mmhmm.

I dabble with acrylic paints. Am I good? No, but it's fun.

I'm planning an escape from my predictable life. I'm going off the grid to Oaxaca, MX, specifically Puerto Angel. I'm gonna be a fisherman and sleep in a hammock. No, you can't join me.

I'm really good at

social critiques based on foreign and artistic films; grammar; thinking of comebacks 2 days after the confrontation; dropping my phone; getting paint in my hair; making my dog howl; sarcasm; kissing; senseless and random trivia; home repair!

I'm really bad at: drinking large amounts of booze; keeping my balance; video games; pool.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

Most people notice that I'm telling some ridiculous story and waving my hands like a maniac. It's pretty awesome. Or they notice that I'm asian. Whatever.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Hey. Let's play a game. For the first two (books and movies), I'm going to gather up all the books and dvds within reach of my bed. You're going to be impressed, trust me..

a)Douglas Coupland - Life After God; All Families are Psychotic. William Gibson - Pattern Recognition, Idoru. Anne Bishop - Heir to the Shadows; Dreams Made Flesh; The Invisible Ring. Kurt Vonnegut - Slaughterhouse 5. Barbara Kingsolver - The Poisonwood Bible. George Orwell - 1984. M. John Harrison - Light. Audrey Niffennegger - The Time Traveller's Wife. Gabriel Garcia Marquez - Love in the Time of Cholera; Queer 13: Lesbian and Gay Writers Recall Seventh Grade; Nanotech; And erotica. Yep. But I keep that hidden.

b) The Royal Tenenbaums; Stranger than Fiction; Cowboy Bebop; The Riddick Trilogy; Gattaca; Kids in the Hall: Season 2; Accepted; Home Movies: Season 1; Lolita; Wizards; Jeff Buckley: Live in Chicago

c)Interpol, Fiona Apple, Safety Scissors, Postal Service. Milosh. Lovely, lovely trip-hop. Mid 90's dance. Post grunge alt. rock from the 90s.

d)Korean food, fo sho. I love spicy stuff. I'm half Creole, half Korean so you can imagine. I really love food, like really. And I love to cook.

The six things I could never do without

1. Fashion/design mags (either clothing or interior design and none of that mainstream shit, thank you.) I love Dwell.

2. Ultra-modern architecture. Steel. Concrete. HUGE windows. Dig?

3. The opportunity to split and leave to the coast at a moment's notice.

4. The smell of rain-soaked hot concrete.

5. A perfect shirt paired with the perfect skinny tie. I'm still on the hunt for those two.

6. The company of my friends, pets and family. That's three but I'm in charge here.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Czr304

and

building my conceptual engine powered by a magnet/friction system located on all four tires. Goodbye, OPEC.

I also tend to think a lot about finances. Not the intricacies of economics but about how I'm going to pay bills, how much I'll have left over, etc. Other than that, I think about funny things I'd like to see written into commercials and/or SNL skits. I used to want to go into marketing once upon a time and when I was 8, my dream was to be a head writer for SNL. I gave way to reality. Now, I just want to be happy. I think a lot about different languages like Spanish and French. I try to conjugate and whatnot as well as ponder the similarities between the romance languages. NERD ALERT! I compose poetry in my head and always manage to forget 80% of it.

On a typical Friday night I am

Taking a nap. Doing laundry. Hanging with the d-o-g.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I'm much less a lesbian and way more of a fag. It just means that I'm not that attracted to femme girls and I have more fun in bed. Trust me on that one.

And my heart breaks everytime a space shuttle takes off without me.

Oh, and I'm terribly vain about my arms. They're pretty great.

You should message me if

... Look. I'm not typical. I don't attend protests anymore and I'm not a vegetarian any longer. I work for the second largest retailer in the world and I'm cool with that. It pays my bills. I have mellowed as I've aged. The things that used to make me angry when I was younger don't set me off anymore. I have changed and you will never meet another kid like me in your life.
