I spent my thirties concentrating on my career. I've been lucky to
have had a few very meaningful relationships where I learned about
myself, how to communicate, how to compromise (and on what), and
what works for me in a relationship. I'm very happy with where I am
in life. I'm closer to my family than I've ever been; I'm
surrounded by excellent friends who support me and challenge me to
better myself, and learn new things. As the t-shirt says: life is
good! Come on in! :-)
What I’m doing with my life
I changed jobs about a 3.5 years ago to a role that's more in line
with career goals and gives me the freedom to pursue my personal
priorities and hobbies. Who knew it would take 15 years to find
work-life balance?! ;-) It's helped me stay healthier, get back to
my hobbies like photography, auto sport and travel and spend more
time with family and friends. I went on a 2-week trip to South
Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana in September 2012 and loved it. Just
came back from a trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park, and
heading to China in April which I'm super exited about. I can't
wait to go back to Africa though, and hit a few other places on my
list: a couple more of the US National Parks and overseas trips to
Italy and Spain.
I’m really good at
I can be the planner or the idea-man, but one thing I'm known for
among my friends is that I'm not a procrastinator.
I get a lot of compliments on my photographs from friends.
I'm a good listener and conversationalist, and pride myself in
staying calm in difficult situations.
The first things people usually notice about me
I smile easily and it seems to be contagious. I can make people
feel at ease around me fairly quickly - I can get along with almost
I've been told I smell good :-)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love all kinds of movies: action/adventure, mysteries and
comedies, but I'm not into any particular TV shows. When I do watch
TV, I'm watching the National Geographic and Discovery Channel
programs or catching up with world's soccer games (Spanish, BPL,
German leagues and of course the World Cup). OK, I have to admit -
I record and watch Dancing with the Stars. I used to swing dance
(lindy hop) a few years ago and have had the dancing bug ever
since. I'm big fan of European style auto racing events. I get my
news from NPR and WTOP while I'm driving, and from the Time
magazine and various online news sources.
The six things I could never do without
1. The company and support of my friends and family
2. Being outdoors and near wildlife
3. Live music
4. My cameras
5. Good food & wine with good company
6. My iPhone (sad, I know)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What my next trip is going to be
On a typical Friday night I am
Dinner or drinks with friends, checking out a live band, or packing
a bag to get out of town for he weekend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
We'll eventually get there too ... give it time!
You should message me if
You're generally a happy and secure person, still open to
possibilities, and carry minimal baggage - let's face it: nobody is
baggage-free; some people are just better at traveling with
carry-ons! :-) You have your own hobbies and friends some of which
you're willing to share eventually when the time is right!
