I am super-smart, studley, and modest.

My Self-Summary

I learned two things from my Dad, eat your pizza crust and always wear shoes when you ride a bike (otherwise you might end up with nine toes, like him). I can lip sync the dialogue from just about any episode of The Simpsons. Homer Simpson is like an uncle to me, but Homer probably doesn’t read Maureen Dowd in the Times. I’m a pro at adapting to new surroundings, and I know the value of self-reliance and Spartan living; growing up, we once moved seven times in 14 months. I once attended a 'peaceful' anti-war rally where the police got carried away and sprayed everyone with tear gas like it was air freshener. I got straight A’s in high school but was kept off the honor roll for failing the academic portion of Driver’s Ed. I did eventually get my license so now I like jumping in my car on the spur of the moment to meander across the country or catch the leaves turning in New Hampshire.

What I’m doing with my life

I blew off my real job last year to work for Obama. That was the hardest and most rewarding thing I've done in my life. My dad ended up dying a couple days after the election which threw a monkey wrench in my plan to transition back into civilian life. I feel as if I've only recently gotten my life back on track. As for what I'm doing now... I'm afraid right now it's A Big Secret but it involves studying the Delaware Code and election statistics.

I’m really good at

Looking over what I've written it could be construed that I am bragging. Then again, this is supposed to be "What I'm really good at" so deal with it.

Observing: Pretty classic INTJ (if you're into that sort of thing). I watch watch watch and try to figure out what makes something tick

Random Trivia: People always told me how smart I was growing up. I'm not really sure how true that is. I think I just have a really good memory. It works its self out in odd ways though. Mainly I just remember a lot of strange crap.

Keeping my cool: One of my more useful skills. Unless it's life or death, why get worked up, really?

Campaign Stuff: More on the numbers side of things. Precinct analysis and such. After the campaign, a relative was running for local office in a special election. I looked at the numbers and came up with a fucking excellent field plan. It was so excellent; in fact, that it really freaked out the state party who then had high-ups pulled some shady backroom stuff to make sure their guy got in. He ended up losing to the republican despite the district having twice as many democrats as republicans because... wait for it. No field plan! Not that I'm gloating. Or a dork about this sort of thing.

Making out: Oh boy... How to explain this one? You see, when a man and a woman love each other very much, and they decide they want to express their love physically, um...

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm tall: 6'2" but people always seem to think I'm taller. I'm actually the shortest person in my family. Average is like 6'4"

Curly hair: People ask if I'm Jewish or Italian. I'm not, though sometimes I like to say I'm a quarter African American. Which is technically true, but really not.

I'm usually pretty quiet. I think that freaks some people out, but I'm really just listening carefully.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Sorry, but no. One of my favorite things about going out with someone new is slowly discovering all the things you have in common. This section really takes a lot of the fun out of things.

The six things I could never do without

1) Sleep: I'm kind of an insomniac, so when I get it I love it
2) Car: Driving is probably one of my favorite things to do. A quick hop, 2000-mile road trip? It’s all good, though the super long road trips are better with a partner.
3) Internet: Do I have to explain this one? If they offered to implant the modem right in my skull, I'd quite possibly go for it.
4) NPR: One has to stay up on current events
5) Family: You know, and all that love crap I guess... No, in all seriousness my family life is a little (by which I very) kaleidoscopic. To be honest family life was something that used to not be on my mind very much until I recently lost someone. Then it really hit home.
6) Ladies: Not just sex, per se, but female companionship in general. C'mon lets be honest. Isn't that why were all here?

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My upbringing. When I was growing up my mom was involved in the whole wiccan/neo-pagan thing. When I was around 15 there was a schism in her coven with the gay patriarch of the group being accused of improper use of magic and the supposedly psychic matriarch of the group moving away to Colorado Springs. About a year later my mom and her (female) domestic partner dragged me along to join her. I was unable to get a straight answer as to why this was necessary out of my mom, but after we arrived I was given an audience with with the matriarch. Only, it wasn't the matriarch, but rather the psychic sprint who inhabited her "Vince." "Vince" tells me why we had to leave. Turns out that "Vince" had used his powers to learn that the entire East Coast would be flooded because of global warming within 3 years. This was in 2001, mind you. Colorado naturally would be spared. More importantly living in Colorado Springs (home of the Air Force Academy and the Christian Right) was necessary because once society collapsed (which it naturally would considering the flooding) the large military presence in the city would ensure that order was kept.

It was about this time that I realized my upbringing wasn't like most people's. At least it makes a good story!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Ok, first a small complaint. Everyone that writes "I'm a very open person just ask!" is kinda missing the point.

Anyway

I'm a little bit of a music snob, at least on the outside. You know the type. "Oh, you listen *them*" I do feel bad about that. Secretly, I'm up for anything: Top 40, Barry Manilow, 70s porn movie soundtracks. Its all good.

You should message me if

This seems to be the space where everyone lists who they DON'T want to message them. I'm not going to do that. If you want to, go right ahead. Just not if you're short. Kidding!
