My self-summary
Here's another one of those self-summaries that complains about the difficulty of summarizing the self. My problem is that I'm just more interested in other people, so I'm not paying as much attention to myself as maybe i should.

So you know how some guys put on this tough exterior to keep people at bay so nobody hurt the sensitive guy inside? That's not so much me. My exterior is a bit of a clown, willing to say any bizarre or shocking thing if there's a good chance of getting a laugh. Beneath that is a more serious, spiritual person trying to understand his fellow man. I've even been known to brood from time to time. For reals.

I love the strange and the macabre. If you enjoy the Sandman, the Addams Family, and halloween, we're probably on the same wavelength.

I am quirky, nerdy, and good-natured
What I’m doing with my life
My great challenge at present is to figure out what kind of person I want to become, and what direction I want to go with my life. For the time being, I'm content having some financial stability and some good friends, and some fulfilling (if goofy) hobbies.

Update: I think I've made progress here. Kind of. Now I actually need to move forward, now that I see the direction (sort of) that I want to go. Exciting! Or maybe not!
I’m really good at
drawing, writing (at least the wordcraft; plot construction still puts the boot in), and making some excellent pancakes when the mood strikes.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my hair, which is one of my few points of vanity. Nothing I did with it when it was short was working, so I grew it back out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Resurrection Man, by Sean Stewart; Snow Crash, the Diamond Age, by Neal Stephenson; the Noble Dead series by Barb & J.C. Hendee; the Black Jewels trilogy, by Anne Bishop; the Lankhmar stories of Fritz Leiber; VALIS & Radio Free Albemuth, by Philip K. Dick; Pretty much anything by Sarah Vowell.

Movies: really good fantasy like Legend, Labyrinth, Willow, LotR; really off-kilter scifi like Pitch Black, Riddick, Dark City, 12 Monkeys; bizarre comedy like Toys, L.A. Story, Tremors, Thank You for Smoking; Horror is a mixed bag: The Descent, the original Hellraiser and the original Haunting are all favorites; I also enjoy other films that use elements of fantasy and horror, like Constantine, the original Crow, and the Prophecy. I've also got a soft spot for zombies.

Music: Tricky, System of a Down, Voltaire, Violent Femmes, Boiled in Lead, Rasputina, & assorted techno I've collected over the years.

Foods: Spaghetti, buffalo wings, New York-style pizza, spiedies (a local specialty in Binghamton NY), and breakfast after midnight.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order:

Women who make me laugh

Geeking out with friends

Occasional solitude

Sketchbooks (or unruled notebooks)

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Daydreams. I've always been a daydreamer - I like to invent fictional worlds, characters, etc. Sometimes I try writing stories, but the structure of fiction always gives me trouble. Maybe a writing partner would be good.
On a typical Friday night I am
probably just relaxing at home with some friends. We'll most likely put on a movie, but sometimes we'll pull out games - from Uno to Fluxx to the occasional night of D&D. (But i passionately hate monopoly. This is important.) Occasionally videogames get the upper hand.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well, there's something about a girl wearing a blindfold and a smile that I can't resist.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 23–35
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if're a geek, a goth, a punk, or an odd duck. If you like to make people laugh. If you sport unnatural hair colors. If you feel like you'll never understand 'normal people,' - even if you blend in among them. If you can swing readily between serious intellectual discussions and flat-out goofing off, or at least find such shifts charming. If you like to be the damsel in distress sometimes. If you know what you like and are willing to say so. If you are disarmingly honest, and appreciate the same. Mostly if the person outlined in this profile seems intriguing.
