My current shiniest trend is helping people with their graduate work, because I never went to highschool or elementary school, and I'm currently at a trades college, so my exposure to the crazy world of academia is fairly recent and covered in novelty and shininess (I know more right now than any flaky little fag has any business knowing about butch/femme lesbian bar culture of the 1950s and '60s, how it was interpreted contemporarily through Freudian sexology and psychoanalysis, how that was critiqued and responded to by 1970s and '80s 2nd-wave lesbian feminism, how that response perpetuated the misogyny it was developed to erradicate by sustaining the equasion of female-bodied passivity with performative gender identity originated in Freudian sexology and psychoanalysis, and how post-constructionist 3rd-wave queer feminism can - when applied to femme self-conception and -expression in that era (1950s and '60s lesbian bar culture) - effectively identify the misogyny inherent in antieffeminism). *cough* Apparently my other big trend is run-on sentences...
