The Short of It
I love:
ART. Music. Theatre. Books. Really old books. Writing. Going on walks. Stars. Flowers (red roses and stargazer lilies). Animals (my cats). Sarcasm. Good movies. The ocean. Hugs. Coffee. Rain. Quick wits and sharp tongues. Poetry. Green tea. Shakespeare. Being right. Singing. Red wine. Good pens (seriously, they're vastly underrated). California. Cigarettes. Lying on the floor. Photography. Dancing. Great lighting. Humor. Museums. The city. Knowledge and intellect. ee cummings. Peanut butter. Making snarky comments. Massages. Quotations. Being in France, especially Paris. Being pretentious. Laughter. Fuji apples. Words (propinquity, colloquial, tomfoolery, mordant…)
I do not love:
Hot humid weather. People who walk/drive slowly, especially if they are oblivious. Bad comedy. Right wing agendas. Stupid people. Earnest Hemingway. Waiting. Airports. Meat. Anne Coulter. Math. 8 am classes (never again). Bigotry. Religious zealots. Fred Phelps (& Co.) Most seafood. Skinny couches. Sunburn. Job hunting. Computer viruses. Country music. Zucchini.

The six things I could never do without
Not necessarily in that order.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why do businesses misspell the name of their company/product? Are people really more interested in buying something if it ends with a "z" instead of an "s"? Is it cute to spell the name of some antique store "Ye Olde Shoppe"? Do they think "Oh, wow, hey look at that! How original!" Or maybe they count on people actually knowing how to spell properly and therefore noticing specifically a sign with a misspelled word on it (They'd be wrong, of course, as modern Americans seem to have forgotten that "you" and "are" are not just letters of the alphabet.)
On a typical Friday night I am
