My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm on the Earth to amuse myself, but you can come along for the ride if you don't mind irreverent, line-crossing silliness. I like to have just worked out, but I hate actually working out. I like to be outdoors hiking or rowing, and then I like to turn around and stay locked inside working on a project or reading a book all day long to balance it out. I'm an artist and a scientist with a classical education and a love of language. That's code for: I'm going to be painting, writing, telling you why the science in your favorite movie is total shit, and then I'll be explaining peculiar facts about words, especially those with ancient Greek roots, and lamenting audibly whenever you say "less" and mean "fewer" or fail to use a subjunctive when appropriate. I have a love of novelty, and that means you should to too. I take baths instead of showers unless I don't trust the tub. I love to cook, but hate to bake.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
The past few years have been a roller coaster in which I've been working in a lab abroad, ending a relationship as a result, losing both my parents back-to-back, and putting my life on hold for a year ( if you want to creep me in my darkest timeline).

I'm finishing up a degree in something really difficult, and I'm starting a new business, which is so neat it would blow your mind if I told you about it. It's too bad I can't yet. I'm also working on a book. Until it's done and undergoes a few editorial cycles, I'm not going to let you read it. I've got various other irons in the fire too, like learning guitar (I know NOTHING), learning to dance, etc.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

I'm also not good enough for myself at anything. Perfectionism is a bitch. I tend to be a Jack-of-all-trades but still a master of a few. I have a terrible memory, though, and so in my skill juggling routine, as new ones get thrown in, I tend to drop others. I guess it's a by-product of loving to learn. Maybe that's really what I'm good at: learning anything regardless of how impossible it is and then forgetting it once the challenge is gone.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm younger in appearance and mannerism than I am in age. I may well be older in self-awareness, though. At least that is the goal.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm just going to give you a handful in each category, since nobody wants to read a bullshit list all night for a guy they don't know.
Books: Lolita, The Wee Free Men, Of Mice and Men, The Iliad, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Name of the Wind...etc. Oh and Slaughterhouse Five is clearly the story of a guy with PTSD and not science fiction, what the hell is wrong with you people?

Movies: Amelie, The Game, Moonrise Kingdom, Casablanca, Time Bandits, Lost in know, stuff like that. I like them quirky and interesting. I loved the Hobbit as a book, but the movies turn my stomach.

Television: Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Elementary, Sherlock, Community, and Germany's Next Topmodel (don't laugh, there are few better ways to learn German than watching beautiful women say nothing complicated). Breaking Bad is the greatest show ever. I wanted to put Doctor Who on here, but after successfully converting many to its fandom, it seems to have run off a cliff.

Music: I'm eclectic as all hell. I tend to favor things that are visceral and allow for improvisation. I will say that I've not got much appreciation for electro or techno or whatever the kids call it. I like the subtle variations that come from a human hand doing something on an instrument.

Food: I'm all about fresh, good food. I'm going to eat things with gluten in them, things with faces, things that originated in boobies, and things that live on the bottom of the ocean.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Look, I've starved nearly to death at one point in my life. I can do without anything. If I can't, I'll die, and then I can rest.

But if you were to really corner me on this question, I'd put "iced tea" in there six times.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Sex, food, sleep, seems like there was a fourth...oh yeah, sex.

Don't worry, that just means I'm a guy. I am picky about who I have sex with, and I'm not really looking for hook up partners. Actually I'm really not looking for hook-up partners, but just in case Jennifer Lawrence is in town and using OK Cupid for a quick fling, I don't want to entirely shut the door.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm either out having a beer with friends, out meeting someone new, in having a drink with friends, or in recovering from having been out Thursday and using it as an excuse to work on a project or write. Lately I might also be out having a drink and playing board games with friends. I might also be out at a show, or watching a movie, or getting a milk shake, or I don't know, lots of stuff. I guess that's the verbose way of saying, "there are no typical Friday nights".
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The answer to this question is in the incredible amount of expository information I added to many of the questions. I'm an open book, or so it seems to all but the few who really know me.
Oh, but you might have to take a few of those answers with a grain of salt. I haven't updated some in a long time, and others...well others I went ahead and voiced the thing that many other people might pretend never happened. We can talk about my answers if you want the story behind any of them.

There, those aren't impossible standards, are they? Fuck.

*Special bonus points if you: know any amount of German and want to speak it with me until we're so good we can talk crap about other people in public, want to learn to two-step or don't mind that I am crappy but want to practice a lot, love science and art, or have a billion interests so that sometimes it's hard to really do anything you like enough to get anywhere.
