Books: Avid reader. Lolita is my favorite followed by Of Mice and
Men, and then who knows where it spirals. I predominantly read
science fiction and fantasy now. I was once a non-fiction reader
for fun, but I think being in a Ph.D. program cures many people of
that. I remember Sherlock Holmes once said that his brain was
finite, and whenever he learned something new and superfluous to
his job, it could push something he needed out. I know that's not
really in line with contemporary neuroscience, but my brain's
desperation to read total garbage when I'm done with work makes it
feel true nonetheless.
Movies: Amelie, The Game, Moonrise Kingdom, Casablanca...you know,
stuff like that. I like them quirky and interesting. I loved the
Hobbit as a book, but the movies turn my stomach.
Television: Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Elementary, Sherlock,
Community, and Germany's Next Topmodel (don't laugh, there are
fewer better ways to learn German than watching beautiful women say
Music: I'm eclectic as all hell. I will say that I've not got much
appreciation for electro or techno or whatever the kids call it. I
like the subtle variations that come from a human hand doing
something on an instrument.
Food: I'm all about fresh, good food. I'm going to eat things with
gluten, things with faces, and things that live on the bottom of
