My Notes edit

My self-summary

*Deletes everything* Damn, what... interesting stuff I had here before... Sounded oh so doom and gloom, was not intended, I'm a very positive person and don't sweat the small stuff, at all... much to the chagrin of some people.

I think I come across as fairly friendly, perhaps occasionally annoying to friends. I have spent my life philosophising, arranging my thoughts in a generally coherent manner, I am now at the point where I feel relatively confident enough to express and discuss these thoughts with others. I love to hear how and what others think about morals, society, religion, spirituality, reality and what ever people find important or interesting. I am an huge advocate of critical thinking, and Scientific Scepticism (skeptic).

When meeting new people, depending on the time and place, I may seem quite shy and introverted. I sometimes find it difficult to do the whole small talk thing. My friends would probably say I talk a lot, but not often *too much*, unless I've had a lot of coffee and/or not enough sleep. I like people who talk a lot, generally I would rather listen than talk, but I still like to.. talk. I already know what I think, I like to hear what others think. In saying that, I dislike when people dominate conversations.

To me, life is about learning, be that through conversation, introspection, observation, exploration or the words of others.

I like people who care about what it means to be here, even if it might have no meaning outside our own subjective perspectives.

What I'm doing with my life

Reading, meeting new people, learning, trying to understand as clearly as possible how much we really don't know. Attempting to understand how we are here, I don't think there is a why, I always keep an open mind and explore the evidence.

I'm really good at

Listening, drawing, painting, conceptualisation, "with my hands", fixing things. Occasionally friends will say I give great advice about relationships, although I think some of that may be because they are terrible at it. I don't think they use this site...
I think I am naturally adept at reading body language and ascertaining a persons general emotional state, although at the same time, I am not the best at hearing emotional signals in a voice and may misinterpret such signals, that is if I have my eyes closed and not reading body language, so not often... BTW, I don't go around analysing people, as reading this, it may seem that way, damn wall of text.stop.

Really bad at: Filling these things out.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

My accent, my possibly not-very-cool dress sense and maybe that I am a little shy?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: The Culture series by Ian M. Banks (amazing, read it NOW), Dune (read it too), Spin by Robert Charles Wilson, Discworld books by Terry Pratchett, Dystopia novels such as 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Sundered (audiobook podcast). "Popular Science" and philosophy: Daniel Dennett, Richard Dawkins' Evolutionary stuff, Bertrand Russell and David Hume.

Movies and TV: I looove Farscape, Dexter is good, The office is good(both), Battlestar Galactica is very good and Cosmos by Carl Sagan is inspiring, Spaced, Family Guy, Peep show, Lost, Stargate: SG1 and Black Books are groovy too. I like movies with a detailed mature plot. Anime, Science fiction, Fantasy, Japanese horror, French comedies and drama, many genres, so long as it's not something like High School Musical or Bring It On. Although there may occasionally be an exception. Examples: Bridge To Terabithia, Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, Brokeback Mountain, 300, Closer, Cloverfield, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine, No Country For Old Men, Stardust, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, The Mist, Amelie, Ring, Matrix, LOTR, Serenity, The Fifth Element, Battle Royale, Wicked and Monster City, Reservoir Dogs/Pulp Fiction etc., Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Street Fighter II: The movie (animation), Bladerunner, The Big Lebowski, Cowboy Bebop, Garden State, Happiness.

Music: I like all kinds. Something from every genre.
Some examples:
Rasputina - The Beta Band - Modest Mouse - Elliot Smith - Jack Of Jill - Placebo - Pink Floyd - The Cardigans - The Cure - Led Zeppelin - Depeche Mode - The Clash - Bob Dylan - Aretha Franklin - Tracy Chapman - Azure Ray - CocoRosie - Mozart - Bob Marley - Jeff Buckley - Cat Stevens - Louis Armstrong - Ella Fitzgerald - Fine Young Cannibals - Josh Ritter - Johnny Cash - Cranberries - The Tiger Lillies - Thin Lizzy - Blur - Gypsy Kings - Jimi Hendrix - Harry Belafonte - Vera Hall - The Ink Spots - Queen - Procol Harlum - Enigma - Jeff Buckley - Moby - Groove Armada - Eagles - Diana Ross and The Supremes - Fleetwood Mac +Many, many more.

Food: I like food, I like eating it, I like preparing and cooking it (either that or eat tinned beans on toast... pah!). Spicy and/or savoury but not usually sweet and sour, icky. Not a big fan of fried food such as a "fry" or traditional UK cooking in general (although my mother makes a mean veg soup and stew), but I do like stir-fries. I am a big fan of certain Indian, African and Eastern European foods especially Polish cuisine.

The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Actions of people, my own actions, why I and others do what we do. Friendships. Life.

On a typical Friday night I am

At home, or with my friends doing something, at their houses or at a bar/club.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I used to visit Games Workshop :O (on purpose).

You should message me if

You wish to tell me how cool I am. Note: I dislike replying to woos, but I won't hold it against you, much.
