My self-summary
I am kind, conversant and anxious to help everyone. I am curious about the world around me and consider myself a lifelong learner. I am honest and am an open book. If you are looking for a woman of mystery, I'm not her. When I was in my twenties, I loved to travel. I visited eastern Europe, India, Greece and Turkey. What fascinated me was learning about the culture and history, My travels ceased when I married and no longer had the time or resources to travel. Now, even an overnight stay on the Oregon coast thrills me. I love Chinese food and dark chocolate. I was a folk dancer in my youth and plan to return to Contra dancing soon. I would love to learn East Coast Swing. I own and run a business training people to become nursing assistants, but frankly, I'm a terrible businesswoman. I'm a good teacher--my students score well on the state board exam--but I'm not good at promoting my business or doing the things I need to do to increase enrollments. I've also been known to aid my competitors, not a good business practice. I love to cuddle, to walk hand in hand, to be romanced, to give-- and receive-- massages.

I hope to find a man who is intelligent, educated, compassionate and honest. Because I love to learn, I hope he will be willing to teach me about his profession and will want to engage in intellectually stimulating conversation. It would be wonderful if he liked to travel and to enjoy spur-of-the-moment adventures. Perhaps it would be a visit to waterfalls, maybe it would be a trip to the mountains. I would love to visit museums and nature preserves and concerts in the parks with him. And he would be romantic. He would recognize that a single flower or a single special chocolate treat can have as much significance as an elaborate gift. It would also be really nice if he had a sense of humor.

I don't like being alone. I miss so many things about being in a committed relationship! I miss having the opportunity to express my love, my caring, my passion. I am told that I look younger than my true age and I certainly FEEL younger! As is the case with so many of us, I did not expect to be alone at this point in my life. I was a committed wife, but my husband died suddenly and unexpectedly five years ago. I am too young in mind, body and spirit to spend my remaining years alone. I do not respond to profiles that do not provide text to help me understand who the writer is, nor do I respond to flirts, likes, etc. If you would like to communicate with me, please send me a message with more than "Hi!".
What I’m doing with my life
I have a small business that I love. I train people to become nursing assistants (CNA's). I enjoy helping people when I am able, but sometimes I am not smart about it. I have helped my competitors with their businesses!
I’m really good at
I'm really good at making people feel comfortable. And some people tell me they really like my singing.
The first things people usually notice about me
The first thing people usually notice about me is my green eyes, but I hope they would come away from our first meeting with the sense that I am a kind, caring person. (They probably also notice that I am short, but most are polite enough to not bring it up.)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read the newspaper regularly. I do not often take the time to watch movies, but when I do, I enjoy action and science fiction, but I have absolutely NO interest in horror. Because I play 12-string guitar and sing the folk music of the '60's and '70's (Peter, Paul and Mary, Joni Mitchell, etc.), I am drawn to music that compels me to sing along. I also love blues and classic rock 'n roll. My son is a professional bassist, so music is an important part of my life. My favorite food is Chinese, but a week ago (today is March 16, 2014) I started a very low carbohydrate diet. No Chinese food for me for a couple of months! :(
I am a chocoholic--I believe that when it comes to a hot fudge sundae, the ice cream is just an excuse to be able to eat hot fudge. But right now, my taste buds will be missing chocolate. It is not on the Atkins diet. (According to the Atkins Diet website, I am only four pounds above my ideal weight upper range.)
The six things I could never do without
1. My children (two sons).
2. My car. I must have reliable transportation.
3. My morning coffee (it has to be decaf, but I REALLY like the taste).
4. My computer. It has opened a new world for me. I can research anything that pops into my head.
5. A satisfying job. I love the job I have now.
6. The hope that I will someday find love again.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about how much happier I would be if I had someone with whom to share my thoughts and feelings. Someone who would enjoy my company as much as I would enjoy his. Someone who would share the joys and burdens of life with me.
On a typical Friday night I am
On a typical Friday night, I am home recovering from a busy week but wishing I had somebody special with whom to spend the evening.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The most private thing I'm willing to admit is that I greatly miss the emotional and physical manifestations of a loving relationship.
