My self-summary
Binational, transatlantic transplant with Fernweh looking to start a tempest in a teacup.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to figure out how to make diplomacy more functional and conflict resolution more peaceful. I'm a recovering journalist trying to chart a new path..
I’m really good at
remembering indie lyrics and facts about modern architecture
The first things people usually notice about me
I am tall for an American, average for a German (both of which I am). I have an interesting gait because of the long legs. My best friend (a guy) says it looks like I am listening to good music when I walk (which is mostly the case - see below).

I talk quickly and jump from thought to thought. I get over-excited. I speak in non-sequiturs when over-enthused. I spent too much time learning Latin as a kid. I talk just as quickly in English as I do in French or German - it confuses people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Editors, Pulp, Styrofoam, Joy Division, Whitest Boy Alive, Kings of Convenience, Interpol, LCD Soundsystem, New Order, Divine Comedy, Carter USM, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Hooverphonic, St. Etienne, Passion Pit, Placebo, Roisin Murphy, Moloko, The National, Sigur Ros (are you still reading??!!), Kosheen, The Postal Service, The Lemonheads, Nada Surf, The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian, Sisters of Mercy, New Model Army, The xx, Moby, Goldfrapp, Franz Ferdinand, Florence & the Machine, Cut Copy, Cold Cave, Arctic Monkeys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs..I could go on..

I spend a lot of time thinking about
- whether there's a natural career combination between international relations and British indie music
On a typical Friday night I am
having a leisurely dinner with friends at Alden & Harlow, Russell House or Belly. If it's a fantastic Friday, I'm going
to Paradise to see one of my favorite bands, knowing that I can
make it a long night because sleeping in is such a luxury..
You should message me if
You're quick-witted with a sharp tongue. You want to take me out in that "Franz Ferdinand" (the band) sort of way and show me your view of the world. You want to test my spontaneous nature. You have a great sense of humor and a better taste in music.
