My Notes edit
My self-summary
I am on a desperate quest for knowledge about nothing in particular. I NEED to know about "stuff". From dead cultures to japanese parking lifts, its all on the list. Between photography and urban exploration, I'm always off searching for the new and unexplained (to me at least).
Rebellious for no good reason and far to curious for my own good. Polite society and I are not on speaking terms. Rampant boredom leads to vacations planned on the fly and a library of books that I've only read once. I'll complain about "Rampant stupidity" and make an ass of myself ten minutes later.
I spend the majority of my free time on this weeks hobby and perusing the countryside in search of my next photo/exploration opportunity. I tend to hop in my car and escape to the country side on the weekends. Car camping has become my new favorite past time. I spend a great deal of my time at museums it seems. Sports for the most part have eluded me except Tae Kwon Do (second degree black belt) but my new found fitness has opened up the possibilities if not the desire. Finally I have begun to explore my more artistic facets. While it has been devastating to my ego, I enjoy the occasional scribble.
I have kept the great American past time of Sunday driving alive and spend a great deal of time terrorizing the countryside in my car. I recently completed a run up and down the entire west coast and plan on a cross country run soon.
What I'm doing with my life
I've visited Vietnam, Hong Kong, Japan, Okinawa, Hawaii, Guam, Australia, South Korea, Russia, Thailand, The Philippines, Canada, Mexico, The U.A.E., Bahrain, Singapore, The Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, and 25 or so odd states in the continental US. I seem to spend a great deal of my time trying to get lost.
I'm really good at
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
If you need examples:Grendel, Big dead place, Cry of the Kalihari, A brief history of nearly everything, Bathroom reader series, Incarnations of immortality series, On Killing, Fight club, The selfish gene, or really anything thats offers perspectives and insight.
I prefer my movies to be as unique as possible. I cant really get into most of the stuff being pumped out at the moment. I will watch it but most of them are just empty entertainment to me.
Some specific flics I have enjoyed recently are Never cry wolf, Twilight of the Cockroaches, Dead man, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, Across the universe, and Icchi the killer.
If reading and exploring/photography are the bricks in my daily routine then music is the mortar. I collect if endlessly and you wont find me without my headphones. I seem to cycle through styles and group fairly constantly so you're just as likely to find me listening to jazz and big band as acid rock and rockabilly.
As for food, if you can eat it, I'll try it. I reserve a special place for noodles though. And sashimi.
