This is all about getting to know who I am so I should probably start with my deep love and appreciation for science, and physics in particular. I find the interactions of the physical world to be utterly fascinating. So with that in mind I finally settled on en engineering degree. Settled is the wrong word. Decided and embraced and found glorious victory are much better. Every day I get to learn about how to use the laws of physics to solve complex problems and in not too long someone will pay me to do that. I couldn't have found a better path for myself. Just wish I had found it years earlier.
Past that passion, I would say I have a very wide range of interests. I love cooking, and for me it is one of life's great therapies. It truly has a calming effect on me, unless its cooking Thanksgiving dinner for 30 people. That, not very calming. I used to play the acoustic bass and still from time to time tool around on my electric. I watch too many TV shows and movies, but if you give me a well written well acted narrative I will be quickly hooked. The same is true for a book. Get my attention and I plow through in a matter of days. Football used to a main focus in my life, probably to my detriment in more ways than one, but I still look back fondly at it. Between youth, high school, college, and semi pro I played for 12 years of my life and had another 4 where I coached. I made some great friends, earned some decent awards and hopefully, when I coached, made a positive impact on at least one kid.
As a warning, I enjoy debating the so called sensitive subjects such as politics, religion, and what whiskey is best. It is not out of malicious intent, I just really enjoy the intellectual challenge of logically defending a position and trying to find weaknesses in a counter argument. I play devils advocate a lot. I am also very very good at it. Oh, and Bourbon is best and George T. Stagg is the best bourbon. There, already settled the question of whiskey.
I'm sure you have been thinking 'I don't see what your job is' While I'm assuming you were thinking hooking, that surprisingly is not the answer. I'm an assistant manager at a big downtown bar/nightclub. I run our security, deal with anything that needs dealing with, and bartend from time to time. While it works great with my class schedule it does leave me occupied most Friday and Saturday nights. I'm also starting to dabble in cocktail contests and finished 2nd in my first one.
Lastly I want to travel, and will hopefully be starting that this summer.
