Bartender. Lover of whiskey. Fledgling world traveler. Engineering student on hold.
That's the short version.
Currently I'm working as a bartender at a restaurant downtown to help fund my current predicament of needing to pay rent and buy food. I also really like it, it pays for more than food and rent, and gives me flexibility to help with my family as much as I can. Currently studying to pass the cicerone exam (basically beer sommelier). Occasionally entering cocktail contests.
I really like good bourbon. Side effect of spending 4 years working at a bar with a ton of them. It's amazing what a little, or a lot, of time and chemistry can do to corn. Dream job would be to be able to use that fancy science stuff I'm paying to learn to be able to help make whiskey or beer.
I say engineering student on hold. I'm not to far from finishing but am taking some time away to help with some family issues. I'll finish at some point but sometimes life throws curveballs and you just have to roll with it.
I also have started to travel and I have found possibly my real passion. I went to Taiwan for a month last summer for school and then parlayed that into a month between Hong Kong, Thailand, and Cambodia. Backpacking solo through southeast Asia was an eyeopening experience. You learn a lot about yourself from that. Currently planning a big Europe trip for next August. If I'm being honest at some point I would like to be able to experience some of the world with another person. Not putting anything on hold but I've figured out that the world is too big to see totally by myself.
