My self-summary
My job's kinda dull, so I keep myself sane with side projects.

Creativity is important to me. I was one of those kids who ignored whatever was on the LEGO box. I'd throw the instructions aside and build what I felt like. I still do that. That's probably why all my Ikea furniture is tables. So many tables.

I've traveled a fair amount, but my favorite place in the world remains the family cottage on a lake in the Laurentians.

The movie 'Spaced Invaders' is loosely based on my life.
What I’m doing with my life
I write. Don't worry, it's not angsty poetry, nor is it stories of film students with names like Solar and Bright who chain smoke and have angry sex after debating whether Cassavetes was a genius or a misogynist. I write humorous thrillers.

I also run two websites. One is mostly on writing and books, the other is on horror movies (don't judge me on that, though . . . please).

Summer's almost here (I think, not totally convinced just yet) and the warm weather brings art shows, film festivals and trips to the cottage. I'll be enjoying all of that, along with wine on a terrace on sunny days and Scotch indoors on rainy days.
I’m really good at
I write goodly.

I am excellent at watching movies. Heck, I am the most at watching movies. I watch the hell out of movies.

I'm very good at not being one of those toolbags who brags about his lovemaking and/or massage-giving skills in his online dating profile. Honestly, what the hell is with that awkward creepiness?

I can list all the times Bruce Willis kills someone in the Die Hard series. Backwards. Twice. . . . No. I lied. I can't. That's really hard.

Given enough salsa, I can turn any non-dessert meal into something pretty damn tasty.

My therapist tells me I'm a great listener. Man, that lady has issues.
The first things people usually notice about me
I dunno. You'd have to ask them.

I can provide you with e-mail addresses, if you'd like.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This is a tough one. I'll try to stick to three each.

Books: The Bluest Eye by Morrison; Lamb by Christopher Moore; Sex Criminals by Fraction and Zdarsky

Movies: Eastern Promises; Ghostbusters; Some Like It Hot

TV: White Collar; 30 Rock; West Wing (I've watched the entire series three times and, if you haven't seen it, I'd be glad to watch it through again with you!)

Music: Jeff Buckley; Blood Orange; Otis Redding

Food: Mexican (of course); croque monsieur; eggs benedict
The six things I could never do without
Okay, I'm not gonna mention family and friends simply because I feel that kinda goes without saying. I mean, if I did that I'd have to include all kinds of other obvious things like air, sustenance, and Scott Baio's smile, so . . .

Here we go:

1) The combination of chocolate and peanut butter (Thanks, science!)

2) Reading material (50% fiction, 30% non-fiction, 20% the internet)

3) Decent wine or beer, good cheese, and great conversation (I call that one my "Fancy Answer")

4) Salsa (The condiment. I'm pretty sure if the dance stopped being a thing I wouldn't even notice)

5) Writing implement (A laptop is preferable but a pen and paper will do)

6) Movies, or at least a good TV series (but, honestly, I'm pretty sure I could live without those as long as I had numbers 2 and 5, so 6 is kinda sort of a lie . . .)
On a typical Friday night I am
Maybe reading, writing, watching a movie or a few episodes of whatever TV show I'm following at the time.

Maybe out for a drink with friends or, if I've got someone to join me, suiting up for a meal at a resto neither one of us has tried.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 25–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You're adventurous but also appreciate a night in.

Your preferred travel destinations are coastal.

You enjoy good conversation and don't mind that said conversation will almost certainly turn to books, movies or TV.
