I used to have this sweet job where I hung out in the tundra in the Alaskan interior and grilled salmon and caribou all day. Then there was a time when I had a really disreputable mustache. Actually, that was the same time. Then I was a full time drifter for a while, then a moonshiner. Then someone decided (based on all that?), hey, maybe we should let this guy be a doctor. So that's what I'm doing now. Also living to get rad. Or trying at least.

I try to be equal parts genuine and ridiculous. I try to treat people right, and usually I pull it off. The outdoors and I are like freakin' best friends. Seriously, we get along great. You can come along too, though, and we'll try not to make you feel like you're 3rd wheeling. And LA is a great place to eat, which I do, like, every day. Multiple times, if you believe that! When I eat out, I'm more into little holes-in-the-wall with great food, less into fancy places. I love good coffee (or sometimes even terrible coffee, depending on how many hours I've been up), beer, and whiskey. I love a good intellectual or philosophical conversation, but I also really like putting on bluegrass and pretending to be more back-country than I am. I am from NJ. We are not known for being back-country folk.

How, as far as I am concerned, money is the forgotten currency of yesteryear. Life experience is the standard by which we should be judging net worth. Except if I need to, like, buy a sandwich or whatever. Then I'll use money.

Our healthcare system and whether I love it or want to break up with it.

On an ideal Friday, I'm out with friends, having drinks or whatever we find to get up to, or maybe out on a night hike or driving up north to go camping in the Sierras.
On a less-than-ideal weekend, getting some sleep so I can get up way too early for work on Saturday.

This might also be a good time to mention that I am very much not a night-person. I'm pretty awesome at mornings though.
