My Notes edit

My self-summary

Human. Earthling. American. New Yorker. Claytonian. Pirate. Of French-Canadian derivation.

I have a blog here: http://oaksong.livejournal.com/

I'm deeply in Love with and married to my snugglebunny and soul mate Abby, who also has an OKCupid profile under the name aliensunset.

I have no interest in being solicited for sex via the web by someone I don't know, so if that's all you're after, look elsewhere. When I created this profile I didn't think that was something I would have to worry about; unfortunately, experience has shown otherwise.

Here's a longer self-summary I originally wrote for somewhere else, updated a little bit:

I am 38 years old, if you're into that whole chronological thing... I'm a blue-eyed blondish moderately pale male mammal of French-Canadian-Irish descent. When walking upright I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 178 cm, and if I jump up and down on a bed it has to be rated for 90 kg primates. I have a wonderful snugglebunny whom I married on May 19th, 2007. I am embarking on my final undergrad semester at Empire State College, majoring in mathematics. My hobbies include reading, playing guitar and various other instruments, cooking Indian and Thai and other Spicy foods, playing with my Eskie, Yoga, walking, breathing, crossfit, mathematical modeling and statistics, and blithering to whomever will listen about the strange and unusual world that some of us live in. I am a lacto-vegetarian but decidedly non-preachy. Religiously I am an ignostic-- yes, with an "i"-- which basically means that my response to the question "Do you believe in God" is "What do you mean by God?" On the idea of a universal creator with a distinct personality and intentions who created humanity in his image, sent us his son, and divvies up dead souls between heaven and hell, I am 100% atheistic.

What I'm doing with my life

I'm living it, of course.

And I am entering my final undergrad semester at Empire State College.

I'm really good at

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

The constant presence of my attack parrot, Polly, who thirsts for crackers of a different sort.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Lots of different things, especially sci-fi, fantasy, or the weird. Including but not limited to: Books by Robert Heinlein, Spider Robinson, Dean Koontz, Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman, David Brin, Greg Bear, Nancy Kress, John Varley, Terry Pratchett, James Lee Burke, Carl Hiassen. Honestly, though, I mostly read nonfiction about science, math, psychology or philosophy. Textbooks are good. I dig the web comics XKCD, Dresden Codak, Schlock Mercenary, Girl Genius... Movies: Lots of different things, especially sci-fi, fantasy, or the weird (echo). I'm a big fan of Joss Whedon. Serenity, Star Wars, Princess Bride, Fifth Element, LOTR, M Night Shyamalan, Mirror Mask... Music by Abney Park, Stuart Davis, Moxy Fruvous, Emerald Rose, The Prodigals, Live, Gaia Consort, Rufus Wainwright, Ani Difranco, Sting, 311, Groovelily. Food: Vegetarian fare, spicy food, Indian food, Thai food, whole food...
Oh yeah, and I love Doctor Who.

The six things I could never do without

Abby, Love, Indian food, books, math and nature.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

In no particular order: books, food, math, nature, psychology, space exploration, writing, music, philosophy, ethics, hair, and most especially my snugglebunny.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either reading, writing or cuddling with Abby.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

The Higgs boson is especially tasty.

You should message me if

You want to, after reading all of the above.
