I joined this site because my sister had awesome results with it. i.e. she didn't get raped/killed. So, I think it's going pretty well so far.

I graduated from Ohio State a couple years back with an English degree and am currently working as a copy editor at a teeny tiny publishing company that's been threatening to go under for a year. I have aspirations of teaching abroad somewhere in Asia next year (I realize how broad that statement is), provided the funds manifest themselves in the near future. In the meantime I'm reading, watching movies, seeing a lot of local shows, going on mini-trips, attending various Columbus events/fests and generally having a pretty good time of it.

I am totally radical.

Being on time. And I'm also good at worrying about things I can't control. I think the two may be related.

I'm at the library at least twice a week. If it's any indication of my nerdiness, I have my library card number memorized...

Books: A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, The Road, Life of Pi, Alice in Wonderland, Me Talk Pretty One Day, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, You Shall Know Our Velocity, Among the Thugs, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, Another Bullshit Night in Suck City.

Basically, any Dave Eggers, David Sedaris or Jonathan Safran Foer. I also love Poe, Capote, Salinger, Dickens and depressing books about the Plague, Hurricane Katrina and the Holocaust. Pretty cheery, no? Currently in the middle of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao and it's kind of rocking my world. I'll let you know how it goes. Please send any worthwhile suggestions my way.

Movies: I'm an insufferable movie nerd. While that may not necessarily mean I'm the most learned, believe that I WILL get up in your face about shit. I particularly like dark comedies and films from the '30s.

Here are some that I like: The Royal Tenenbaums, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation (or anything Charlie Kaufman has written), Fargo, Snatch, My Left Foot (or anything with Daniel Day-Lewis), I Heart Huckabees, Harry and the Hendersons, Sling Blade, O Brother Where Art Thou, Everything Is Illuminated, Batmans, Monsters Inc, Party Girl, The Rules of Attraction, Heaven, The Five Obstructions, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Big Lebowski, Lord of the Rings, Pan's Labyrinth, Almost Famous, Magnolia, Little Miss Sunshine, Scrooged, Harold and Maude, 8 1/2, Public Enemy, Top Hat, Grizzly Man, Brick, Frozen River, Lars and the Real Girl, Point Break, the list goes on...
