I used to cut my own hair until this one time I was in a foreign country and mangled my haircut and kept saying "I can fix this by evening it out". Long haircut short, it was like I put my head in a blender.

I ran around town in a haze until I found a salon that was about to close and begged them to cut my hair. They were kind and did, but only after making me show it to everyone (customers included) in the shop.

Now my hair tends to be either freshly cut, or grows to be a little shaggy. I can no longer bring myself to take scissors to it to trim regularly.

Update: Growing it out.
