I am a kind, compassionate and passionate individual. I value honesty, integrity, and humility equally. I am quite open minded. I possess a very wide lens of perspective. My third eye is wide open. Suffice it to say that I broke out of the box a very long time ago. You could never put me back in my box, or anyone else's for that matter. These days I am aware of both the bigger picture, and the pieces of the puzzle. I can be mature, responsible, and serious at times, and if necessary. Yet I can also play carefree like a child. I think a sense of humor is important. We all need laughter, it is truly the best medicine.
Often I feel I don't fit in with any particular group or crew. I'm an army of one.
I have recently started ridding myself of material possesions. What we own often ends up owning us. I am currently sending thousands of dollars worth of clothes I have purchased over the years to Africa with an African friend. I want to help some of those less fortunate with my excess. It felt pretty good wearing it after buying it. It feels great giving it away for free!
I'm just me...complex for sure, but worth penetrating the enigma.
-CAUTION- the following is a long list of quotes that describe certain aspects of my personality and ways of thinking. It is too much to read for some people, at least right away. However the quotes are a reflection of thoughts and ideas that I resonate with. Anyway, if you don't feel like reading much... SCROLL DOWN. ;)
When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a second. When you sit on a red-hot cinder a second seems like an hour. That's relativity.
At home I am a nice guy: but I don't want the world to know. Humble people, I've found, don't get very far.
You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.
- Bob Marley
“I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”
“People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.
A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.
A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master...
- Elizabeth Gilbert
(Eat, Pray, Love)
The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives. That's the only lasting thing you can create.
There is no such thing as weird human being. It's just that some people require more understanding than others.
Whether a man is a criminal or a public servant is purely a matter of perspective.
(Another Roadside Attraction)
If we're ever going to get the world back on a natural footing, back in tune with natural rhythyms, if we're going to nurture the Earth and protect it and have fun with it and learn from it - which is what mothers do with their children - then we've got to put technology (an aggressive masculine system) in its proper place, which is that of a tool to be used sparingly, joyfully, gently and only in the fullest cooperation with nature. Nature must govern technology, not the other way around.
(Even Cowgirls Get The Blues)
When we're incomplete, we're always searching for somebody to complete us. When, after a few years or a few months of a relationship, we find that we're still unfulfilled, we blame our partners and take up with somebody more promising. This can go on and on--series polygamy--until we admit that while a partner can add sweet dimensions to our lives, we, each of us, are responsible for our own fulfillment. Nobody else can provide it for us, and to believe otherwise is to delude ourselves dangerously and to program for eventual failure every relationship we enter
We waste time looking for the perfect lover, instead of creating the perfect love.
Society had a crime problem. It hired cops to attack crime. Now society has a cop problem.
Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been sober, responsible and cautious, but because it has been playful, rebellious, and immature.
A better world has gotta start somewhere. Why not with you and me?
If you believe in peace, act peacefully; if you believe in love, act lovingly; if you believe every which way, then act every which way, that's perfectly valid— but don't go out trying to sell your beliefs to the system. You end up contradicting what you profess to believe in, and you set a bum example. If you want to change the world, change yourself.
Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won't adhere to any rules. The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice. Instead of vowing to honor and obey, maybe we should swear to aid and abet. That would mean that security is out of the question. The words "make" and "stay" become inappropriate. My love for you has no strings attached. I love you for free.
They glared at her the way any intelligent persons ought to glare when what they need is a smoke, a bite, a cup of coffee, a piece of ass, or a good fast-paced story, and all they're getting is philosophy.
(Still Life With Woodpecker)
Teachers who offer you the ultimate answers do not possess the ultimate answers, for if they did, they would know that the ultimate answers cannot be given, they can only be received
Birth and death were easy. It was life that was hard.
The shaman lives outside the social system, refusing to have any part of it. Yet he seems to connect the populace to the heavens and the earth far more directly than the priest.
You don't have to be a genius to recognize one. If you did, Einstein would never have gotten invited to the White House.
If you fail to pilot your own ship, don't be surprised at what inappropiate port you find yourself docked.
...she recreated the mountains not as she had originally seen them but as she eventually chose to perceive them, not only a capacity to observe the world but a capacity to alter his or her observation of it---which, in the end, is the capacity to alter the world, itself. Those people who recognise that imagination is reality's master, we call "sages," and those who act upon it, we call "artists."
"Not naive," Conch Shell had corrected him, "He simply has not been taught to fear the things you fear."
(Skinny Legs And All)
"Let me say,
at the risk of seeming ridiculous,
that the true revolutionary
is guided by great feelings of love.”
-Ernesto "Che" Guevara
