My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi! I'm Pat, 24 going on 12. I'm currently living and working in Boston doing that post-college thing. Wish I was one of those people who loved their job, but I'm still figuring out what direction I want to head in. I never put as much emphasis on the work I do as compared to the people I'm with. That being said, don't worry- I have a full-time job and am not going the unemployment route.

While I think Boston is an awesome city, I'm a suburban/country person who's far more at home among trees than skyscrapers. Even still, I think I make my way around Boston streets pretty damn well.

Let's be honest here- I suck at dating but am better at relationships. They always start with me as being friends first so that's one reason I'm losing faith in online dating. But hey, never know- lightning could strike.

Some things that are important to me- honesty, being outgoing, humor, sports, and a sense of adventure. I come from a small family with a tight-knit group of friends so the relationships I hold are strong and genuine. I'm not one of those guys who is afraid of commitment or is afraid to show somebody I care. Age is just a number and I will let things happen as they come.

I guess you could also say I'm one of the black sheep of our age group: I get bored easily going to bars or drinking as an activity. Put me outside on a trail or with a football in my hands and I'll be much happier. Hiking, mountain biking, frisbee, baseball, golf, football, hockey, snowboarding, movies, and photography are some of my favorite things. I'd love to make a living selling my photography, but I don't think it's quite good enough yet.

If you can handle/enjoy my sarcastic humor and love of random scientific topics (see VSauce on YouTube), just take a shot and write me a message. You might find you're not the only one with a strange interest in extreme sports, cooking, Broadway, multi-variable calculus, religions, zoology, dancing, metaphysics, climbing, kinetics, Disney movies, the odd country or rap song, people watching, and/or Tekken 2.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working in marketing and graphic design for a nonprofit while I do photography on the side. I'm a landscape/nature photographer and want to travel more.

I'm also learning that work is very secondary to me compared to friendship and having a personal life, so I'm trying to figure out what direction to go in to better suit me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Useless trivia facts
Singing karaoke poorly
Making inappropriate jokes
Learning new things
Staring longingly at all my friends' trip photos
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Couldn't tell ya. That I'm admittedly very average in most regards? If you meet me on a trail, the first thing you notice is I'm saying hi to you because I'm outside, therefore happy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - anything by Dan Brown, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, John Preston, JK Rowling, Ray Bradbury... My favorite books are probably Born to Run, Odd Thomas, Frankenstein (Koontz), Firestarter, The Bourne Identity (whole trilogy), Pride and Prejudice, Watchers, The Great Gatsby, Farenheit 451, and The Hot Zone.

Movies - too many to list. Just some: Dumb and Dumber, Anchorman, Meet Joe Black, Good Will Hunting, Dark Knight trilogy, Green Street Hooligans, Cloud Atlas, 10 Things I Hate About You, Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, Sunshine, etc. For real, there are dozens more I could list off. I worked at Blockbuster for years. I will watch absolutely ANYTHING and give it a shot. Any genre, any language, any story.

Shows - Suits, The Office, Being Human, Grimm, Lost, Glee, New Girl, Top Gear, Planet Earth, Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman, Alphas, The Voice, Family Guy, etc.

Music - highly mood dependent. Favorite band of all time is Alkaline Trio. Some others in no particular order: Flatliners, Brand New, Muse, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, Sigur Ros, The Lone Bellow, Imagine Dragons, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, AWOLNATION, Against Me, Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Dropkick Murphys, Jimmy Eat World, The Killers, Linkin Park, The Lawrence Arms, Modest Mouse, NOFX, Taking Back Sunday, Third Eye Blind, We Are Augustines, ... the list goes on and on. You probably can pick up that alternative, indie, folk, punk rock vibe going on, though. Some other genres mixed in, too.

Food - pub food, Mexican, and Italian are my favorites. I'll try most anything! Can't go wrong with pizza, burgers, fish n' chips, pasta, tacos, or burritos.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Music. I would be thrilled if I had a soundtrack to my life just playing everywhere I went. I wonder what songs would match...
2. Mountains/Nature. They're my religion. I'm at home on top of a ledge overlooking rivers and valleys. And moose. Always moose.
3. Sports/Exercise. Stress reliever, competitiveness bringer-outer, and fun.
4. Movies. I'm a bonafide addict.
5. My friends and family. I don't have a million casual friends. I have a few great friends who hold me together.
6. Curiosity and hope. What else is out there for me to experience? I hope it's good.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything. Am I doing what I want to be doing? Is this the place I need to be?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Am I the only one who doesn't say, "Out for drinks" as a typical Friday night? Is that all we know how to do? Seriously???

Hanging out with my best friend, movies, seeing a concert, restaurant, grilling with my brother, relaxing, watching sports, out for a bike ride, taming wild horses, collecting urchins from underground rivers, base jumping off of the International Space Station, drawing a blank and putting it in a frame.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
These aren't private really, but they're still confessions that continue to blow people away:

I don't like peanut butter.
I don't like bacon.
I've never had a cup of coffee in my life.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You should message me if you're somebody who understands where I'm coming from. I used to have on here things like "knows the difference between you're/your and they're/there/their and loose/lose" but those are so secondary to life values. I want to develop a friendship and don't just jump into sexual attraction. I'm honestly looking for somebody to have a relationship with, not casually date for a little while just for kicks. I am the kind of person who can go on all kinds of adventures and have a blast, but it's never going to be as fun without an amazing girl by my side. So if you'd want to go explore a mountain or play ultimate frisbee or watch a movie or play video games or try some crazy restaurant or watch a Sox/Pats/Bruins game or go to trivia night or take a random dance lesson with me, drop me a message.
