I like to live a happy balanced life. Some days I feel like working on projects at home like making jewelry or fixing up my apartment, and some weeks I'm at a show every night, especially Stubbs, Mohawk, Emos, etc. I work an office job monday-friday with occasional travel, sometimes for weeks at a time, so I have learned how to be flexible and manage my free time and responsibilities. I really enjoy my hobbies when I can do them and sometimes I prefer to just chill. I like chillin with friends, chillin alone, or just opening the Chronicle to see what's happening. I have no problem finding ways to entertain myself. I would just like to share those fun times with a special someone, which is how I came to this site.
Getting lost in the woods
Exploring other countries
Trying to step someplace no one else has, even if its just off the beaten path
Corny shit- old movies, fairy tales, musicals, movies where there is a dance-off at the end that solves some social issue or a teacher gets through to a troubled student against all odds
Trying exotic foods
Tai chi, yoga- wish I did it more! I just tried kickboxing and I think it's gonna be a new hobby.
Frida Kahlo- My favorite Mexican painter ever.
BIKING. I'm not a huge fan of cars. People think its crazy...I say it's resourceful and responsible. Guess how much I spend on gas?
To truly immerse yourself in another culture is one of the greatest experiences you can have.
Travel = learning = understanding.
Coolest thing I've ever done:
Backpacked alone for a week in the Mexican jungle of San Luis Potosi in 2009. And another summer I rapelled down a mountain in Guanajuato- it was the scariest thing I've ever done. Worth it!
Coolest thing I currently do (related):
Lead groups of high school students on study abroad trips over the summer to Mexico, Costa Rica, etc. My job is awesome and I'm lucky to do what I do. Except when the kids get sick or lose their wallets. They always seem to lose their stuff...and airports get real old real quick.
Right wing republican assholes- they test my tolerance
Politics- what a headache
Weed- yes please
Education- the most important thing, ever.
Bodies- beautiful. Every last one of them.
Drugs- natural only for me, you do what you want.
Any book on the occult, existentialism, eastern religion- philosophy, art, etc. I like books on obscure subjects. I love non-fiction. I have a large collection of books on Mexican Art. I'm kind of obsessed with cookbooks right now though.
Amores Perros, Rocky Horror, Hedwig, Pan's Labyrinth, Life Acquatic, Royal Tenenbaums, Fight Club, Princess Bride, Lost in Translation, Garden State, Donnie Darko, Fear and Loathing, Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, Eternal Sunshine, Amelie, Edward Scissorhands, Big Lebowski, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Anything culty, anything 80's or 90's. I have a soft spot for goofy movies that are done well like 40 Year Old Virgin and Wanderlust. The good news is I love movies of all genres.
I don't watch it cuz commercials suck. But on friends' computers I've enjoyed Workaholics, Adventuretime, 30 Rock, Parks & Rec, Portlandia, Community, Girls, and my all time favorite, Strangers with Candy. Amy Sedaris is a comedic genius.
I can get into pretty much any kind of music, except I don't love country unless it's old school Johnny Cash or like blue grassy/ folky country.

- My bike. Just cuz I have pink handlebars doesn't mean I'm not a badass.
- Eating salsa and dancing salsa.

"Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about."
"If you never get lost, you can never get found."
What it means to be an animal in human clothing...
My favorite places to go- the Alamo (South) of course, the Whipin, the East side, and I live south so anywhere south. I have a mild obsession and deep appreciation for Latin culture- hence I can salsa dance your butt off, speak fluent Spanish, and devour a plate of tacos like no other. If you like relaxed weekends of tokin n hittin up a taco cart, taking a walk or hitting up some live music, I'm there. My ideal weekend includes a concert or festival, hiking/swimming/ working up a good sweat, and cooking delicious meals, getting barbecue or trying a new food cart. Sometimes I want to do it all- but as I've gotten older I've gotten better about this, and now I give myself permission to do nothing once and a while, sleep in on a weekend and miss the farmers market and anything else before noon, make eggs, and go back to sleep. It's super lazy and it feels great. Plus I make great eggs! (and like to share!)
