What I really do like to do is explore...and that covers a lot of ground. I like to hike in places I've never been as well as those I think I'm completely familiar with. The changing light, weather, and company I'm with can make a walk down the same street or path a different experience every time. From that you might guess that I'm passionate about photography, and you'd be right. I was convinced that's what I'd be doing the rest of my life when I left high school. And, that turned out to be partially true. Besides being in awe of my surroundings wherever I am and being compelled to capture the moment, I also find that as an architect, photographs, like drawings, can tell more than we can ever speak.
I also value time with friends and family. When everything else is stripped away, they are the root of all we have. That doesn't mean it's easy or conflict-free, but I think it's an essential to who we are.
Exploring...hiking, walking, kayaking & canoeing, sailing (with friends), museums, restaurants, grocery stores, antique shops, YARD sales!, are a few of my favorite things! (Sappy but true!)
I also love to cook. It doesn't matter what kind of day I've had at work, there's nothing like coming home and being taken away by the planning, chopping, saute-ing, roasting, grilling, and finally eating the results! We are what we eat, and I try to stick to a pescatarian diet, but do enjoy some carnivorous pleasures usually for lunch during the week. I do endeavor to avoid "vitamin B" almost entirely. Having raised them, I have a soft spot with knowing their intelligence and I do have some sympathy for the fact that they only seem to be here to eat! Thankfully that's not our plight!
I'm also a grandfather. Surprise! I can't even believe I'm that old! It's all my kid's fault. Actually, I feel about 40-ish. (and that's the guess most people make), take good care of myself by exercising daily, but I'm not a gym guy, trying to eat right, and getting enough rest (the hardest part). It's working so far!
