My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"If you wish to create an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe." -- Carl Sagan

So far all of my attempts to make an apple pie from scratch have unceremoniously failed. I'm looking for someone who can help, I've got the creating the universe part down, but have issues with the crust.

Some of my favorite memories involve discussions -- sprinkled with a large dose of humor throughout -- meandering from psychology, to economics, to Kurosawa movies, to physics, to linguistics. I am often out of my depth in these discussions, but prefer it that way.

In order to make your profile viewing experience as epic as possible, I recommend you listen to this:
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am kind of in love with the work that I do. I research how people make decisions. It is fascinating how poor of intuitive statisticians we all are and how much we discount the future. I could go on for awhile about behavioral economics and how I think it is relevant to the world, but my passion really comes through much better in person.

Previously I studied how people learn a second language -- I was ousted (I just wanted to use ousted, I think it makes me sound like a dictator) because of my interesting past, researched ethnic differences in health decision making, got my masters in Evolutionary Psychology in the UK, and played poker for a living.

For fun I like to go to museums and start talking about how visionary a random artist is, exclaim that their earlier work was superior, and they were obviously inspired by Gauguin. If other people start believing me, all the better.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
being an uncle.

Also: Photography; Regression analyses; dancing to house/trance; making chocolate chip cookies, Thai Red Curry, and souffle aux epinards; and writing thoughtful birthday cards.

It's my experience that people on here love the Oxford comma. Well I just used the Oxford semicolon, which is at least one level superior.

But seriously, I'm amazing at being an uncle.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Full Disclosure: I can be awkward at first. But after 10 minutes or so, that I am warm and genuine and funny.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Peppermint patties, intellectual discussions, great cinematography, a new and interesting way to answer a question, an occasional view of the stars to remind myself of the vastness of the cosmos, a long hot shower (I swear all of my best ideas come to me in the shower.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why everyone who has a "These colors don't run" t-shirt looks like they could really benefit from jogging. Based on this evidence, I'm looking to make "These colors occasionally run, you know, just to stay healthy" t-shirts.

I want to make a website with esoteric facts about Texas/Arkansas border, I'm gonna call it TexArcana.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
On an optimal Friday, I would have a few beers with close friends, then head to an amazing underground dance club with a DJ I have never heard of before and dance until I get blisters.

I am looking for a woman who is intimidatingly smart, exceedingly humorous, and a bit weird. Who also can converse about psychology; is willing to go dancing with me, regardless of how good she is at it; and will do The Ministry of Silly Walks on the sidewalk with me. Also, I prefer someone who will challenge me intellectually. I love it when someone forces me to uncover the underlying assumptions of my argument.

The "for new friends" part of my profile is genuine.

My favorite marine animal is an Australian Giant Cuttlefish. If you have a convincing argument for another animal, I'd love to hear it.

You have a good idea for marketing my t-shirt idea.

You know which one of my favorite movies is an adaptation of one of my favorite books.
