My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a little reserved, so if I come off as a bit formal just give me a minute. I'll warm up. I love long conversations, the sort you can think about later, and if you've got a good sense of absurdity we'll get along just fine. Most of my friends are girls, but if you're the sort of guy who weeps openly when confronted with pretty things, hit me up.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Building it, because nothing simply happens. Jiro Ono is my spirit guide. Him and that fat bodega cat from down the street, because that guy knows what's up and makes really, really good sandwiches.

I'm a painter, and having something that I sit down to practice at every day, all day, and love despite how heart-wrenchingly painful it can be at times is the most important thing to me. Do something you care about, or at the very least care about whatever it is you're doing.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Certain areas of trivia
The first things people usually notice about me

My voice is "deep and booming" so said my Australian co-worker.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Blood Meridian, Moby Dick. Murakami's writing is beautiful. In Praise of Shadows, The Invisible Dragon, The Book of Tea. Aesthetics books. I've read most of Dawkins' work, and a fair deal of Steven Pinker, if you're into that. I wish I understood the Hawking books I've read, but I don't most of the time. I'm also a sucker for Lovecraft, Tolkien, and other good sci-fi fantasy.

I like Adventure time way more than I ought to, and I'm pretty into British television. Miyazaki movies are my medicine; I take them when I'm ill or hurt. Kurosawa is a feast. Wes Anderson is lovely, and the Cohen brothers brilliant. Terry Gilliam at his best is always a treat, and if you can show me something new I'll always remember that.

Music: Joanna Newsom, Sufjan Stevens, Florence and the Machine, Bat for Lashes, Glitch Mob, NMH, Frightened Rabbit, George Winston, Stan Rogers, Cranberries, Bowerbirds, Fever Ray, The Knife, Wovenhand, Black Sabbath, Tori Amos, Bjork, Railroad Earth, Kate Bush, The Antlers, Future Islands. Some good old Blues. Mozart, Bach, and some truly ancient stuff only dead people should want to listen to. If you have more, I'm listening.

Food: I'll eat pretty much anything, but some good Japanese food is always a safe bet. Or tacos. And Southern cooking. Good lord, it's a vice.
The six things I could never do without

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The injustice of my not being able to grow a beard in a time when beards are acceptable.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Giving all of those other people their takeout meals.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I backpacked through the Alaskan tundra one time. I almost died. It was fantastic.
