My Notes edit

My self-summary

My name is Brian. I have lived in the south/southwest suburbs of Chicago my whole life, except when I was away for college. I am a huge fan of the White Sox, Bears, and Blackhawks. I love music. I go to concerts all the time and have a pretty decent size collection of CDs. I am big into classic rock and metal, but I also like some indie and 80s. I love video games and nerdy tech stuff, which makes sense because I am an electrical engineer. I also studied computer science and have become a decent programmer. I am pretty much a geek, but I'm one of those "modern" geeks. I can be social and go out, but I like to stay in sometimes too. I can be a huge smartass, but I know when to be serious and poeple who get to know me always say I'm one of the nicest guys they know. I love to laugh and really like making the people around me laugh.

What I'm doing with my life

I graduated with a Bachelors in electrical engineering in 2005 but had a very hard time finding a job because I had no experience. I always wondered how I could get experience if I couldnt get the job. Its a catch-22! I eventually got an offer to be a process control engineer for a steel mill and I accepted because it was at least something. It pays well and I can gain experience, but it's dangerous and not really what I want to be doing. I have been working that job for a little over a year now. I gained alot of experience and now am in a much better position to get a job doing more of what I want to be doing. I was in the market to buy my first house, but now I think I should decide on where I'll be working before I continue looking for a house.

I'm really good at

I'm really good at solving problems. I think that's why I became an engineer. I have a very logical mind and can think things out realistically. I'm also really good at learning new things. If there is something I have to know or want to learn about I can find some websites or get some books and learn it.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

People usually notice my last name and ask a bunch of questions. It's really long and has 15 letters. I get the same cliche questions all the time... How long did it take to learn? How do you say that? What nationality? ....

Message me and maybe I'll let you know what it is... haha

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: The last book I read that I thought was fantastic was The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Movies: There is a huge list of movies that I like. There is also a huge list of movies I have yet to see. Some of my favorites are Pirates of the Carribean, The Godafather, The Goonies, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Goodfellas, Legends of the Fall, Old School...

Music: I am huge into metal and classic rock. I also like some indie rock and 80s. I own alot of CDs and go to concerts all the time. A small idea of what I like is Black Sabbath, Rush, Opeth, Iced Earth, Pink Floyd, Candlemass, The Cure, Depeche Mode, ACDC

Food: I like going out to eat, but I'm also a good cook too. I like chinese, mexican, seafood, "sports bar" food. Im not the biggest fan of Italian, although I do like pizza. I cant handle anything too spicy or hot. When I eat buffalo wings I have to go with the most mild. Usually Medium is enough to make my face turn red and my eyes tear up. haha

The six things I could never do without

1. a great woman (still searching though)
2. music
3. sports (White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks)
4. video games
5. a great job
6. tech

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I really think alot about my future and all the options that are available to me right now. I want to make sure I have no regrets later in life, so I'm trying to get on a path that will allow me to pursue all the things I am passionate about. I think alot about my career and what my strategy is for getting to where I want to be within my career over the next few years. I also think alot about buying a house and where I want to live. I didn't realize all the possibilites I have until I actually got a realtor and started looking. I probably spend the most time thinking about meeting someone and how I can find someone with similar interests as me.

On a typical Friday night I am

It usually depends on what is going on. Sometimes I will go out with friends, but that hasn't been happeneing too frequesntly these days. Usually I will stay in and watch a movie or the Sox game. I'm up for anything, but it just depends on how I feel. Sometimes I am tired from a long week of work and just want to relax at home. Other times I'm ready to go and will go to a concert or have a couple beers somewhere.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I'll "admit" anything. What do you want to know?
