That which does not kill us, makes us stronger. (Nietzsche) I am plenty strong (please let me be strong enough already!!) and learning from each experience (I am! really...), hopefully I don't have to repeat any of the lessons.
I also enjoy making my home. I don't like clutter, but I do like to collect truly special things and to decorate with items that comfort and inspire me. My home is my favorite place. I enjoy being at home alone or with company.
I enjoy talking with others and sharing information about parenting, teaching or other "survival" experiences. I like to tell stories and hear the tales of others. I like to learn about new subjects that inspire others. I am inspired by others who are passionate! In my opinion, there is nothing better than a good conversation between two people who are interested in the subject and each other... especially if there is wine or coffee involved.
I am really good at parenting. I am a damn good mom and proud of it. I believe that teaching before I had kids made me a stronger parent and for sure, being a parent has made me a better teacher.
I enjoyed reading the Harry Potter stories to my children.
I enjoy the dark stories I teach in class: The Lottery, The Lady or the Tiger, Flowers for Algernon, The Brass Teapot.
I enjoy the poetry from the Harlem Renaissance, especially Langston Hughes.
Novelists: Stephen King, James Patterson, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, Lee Childs, Mercedes Lackey, Orson Scott Card.
I recently read a book called "Wonder" and it was a sweet book.
Movies: How to Train Your Own Dragon, Steel Magnolias, Princess Bride, The Holy Grail, Top Gun, Dead Poet's Society, UP, Remember the Titans, Seabiscuit. Lincoln was EXCELLENT and I didn't expect to be so impressed. Not much of a history buff and who would have expected dramatic suspense in a story where the ending was so expected? ;P
Shows: Big Bang Theory, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Bones, Castle, Necessary Roughness.
Music: Daughtry, Rob Thomas, Third Day, TobyMac, Rascal Flatts, Maroon 5, Coldplay, eminem, Linkin Park, Katy Perry, Matt Nathanson, Pink, Damien Rice, plus Celtic, bluegrass, jazz... it just depends on my mood.
food: strawberry shortcake, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, a perfectly grilled steak, red wine, fresh baked bread, wild rice, homemade salsa, steamed broccoli, grilled fish, corn on the cob (fresh picked), a baked potato, fudgy brownies, coffee. Coffee is the perfect food. Black, fresh brewed, any time of day or year.
If this question is about priorities, well those change.
No matter what, chances are it is low key and last minute!
I am not interested in being dependent on anyone. I value my independence and my independent lifestyle. I like where I am and have no intention of making major changes like moving.
I am looking for someone who likes to talk on the phone/text, someone I can see in person for dinner or a movie or a pot of coffee.
I am not interested in a long distance relationship.
