My self-summary
Feel free to send a message if you'd like, but I'm not actively looking for dates on okcupid these days. I have met some pretty cool people here though, and I do intend to periodically check my mail, so you can be reasonably well assured that stuff like relationship status and the like will be fairly recent if you do want to drop me a line.

PS:
Requests for platonic friendship are fine, so long as you realize that I actually will treat you like any other platonic friend, and won't be changing my dating habits one way or the other to accommodate the development of romantic interest. Then again, I'm not really the type to hold that sort of thing against someone either, so it really is in your best interest to be as direct and honest with me about your intentions as possible.
What I’m doing with my life
Gettin my learn on, studying to become a diabolical mad scientist, over complicating perfectly good manual machinery with computer parts, you know, the usual.
I’m really good at
Hmm... well, I suppose I am fairly articulate, and my facility with the written word is of a reasonably passable caliber. If you ask the right people, I am rather charming... or was it that people are only right IF they find me charming... did I mention that I am INCREDIBLY humble, omg, so awesomely humble that you won't even believe it.
The first things people usually notice about me
Mostly the awesome, then what I'm wearing, (I tend to dress more for personal entertainment than social acceptance, sometimes its kind of hard to miss), then probably more of the awesome.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
In all honesty, I probably wind up reading random chem or physics papers, or "Do it Yourself" guides on how to make aerogel and super capacitors and what not in your home garage, than anything else these days. I suppose if you're looking to characterize my literary tastes, the work of Kafka, Asimov, Orwell, Fritz Leiber, or Douglas Adams, etc. etc. would suffice. Which is to say campy science fiction for the most part.

In the realm of visual media, again, mostly campy science fiction and or anything that has lots of fun historical dialogue. Specifically, Game of Thrones, breaking bad, Tru Blood, and Spartacus come to mind at the moment. I find certain animation stuff like Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Redline, and Hellsing, that employ gratuitous use of spot-black visually appealing... basically if it's pretty and or has an engaging plot (like most of Miyazaki's work) I'm usually down to check it out.

As for Music, my taste is pretty eclectic; anything from metal, to classical (well, I actually do dig opera tunes and some random fugue and what not, but when it get's right down to it, I'm no expert, it's just that I can't for the life of me seem to find the same level of musical complexity anywhere else) to Blue Grass and cheezy Pop. I have always had a particular affinity for Jazz though. Dixie Land, Ragtime, Big Band, Bebop, what ever, if it's Jazz there's probably going to be at least a few artists from that era that I can dig. Basically anything brassy with a solid baseline, so phunk is always good. There's a lot of Hip Hop and rap that doesn't really do much of anything for me, but there are a select few artists like J5, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, Nujabes, Mos Def, Dilated Peoples, etc. that resonate well with my musical taste-buds.
The six things I could never do without
OMG I have THE most fabulous vintage Cartier cufflinks you've ever seen, and a pair of Gucci crocodile loafers that are simply to-die-for, I absolutely must have them with me any time I leave the house...

Ok, seriously though, there really isn't a whole lot out there I can't live without (except maybe for food, shelter, running water, and clean air). As long as there is more for me to learn I am usually pretty much good to go; I suppose if I didn't at least have a good book or two around that could be difficult, but if you're sharp enough, not even a book is absolutely necessary.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Connections.
Possibilities.
How things work.
Why things work.
What it all means.
On a typical Friday night I am
Studying, relaxing with some friends, or both (yes, there are indeed those who consider physics or math a form of recreational entertainment).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't know... maybe that sometimes I totally dig girls that are kind of gender queer, or androgynous. I suppose thats not all that private though, since I would pretty much readily admit as much to anyone that asked. Sometimes I like super curvy stereo typically girly girls for that matter too. Hell, some girls have that whole Jamie Lee Curtis thing going on and manage to rock all of the above.

I suppose I'll just settle on saying that I'm more turned on by "chemistry" than any one typical image. For me its just not about blondes and brunets, or short girls and tall girls, or even shy girls and agressive girls. Sometimes you meet a wiry boyish girl with a buzz cut and the disposition of an angry honey badger, and the sparks fly like nobody's business, other times you meet a girl that looks like she just escaped from an episode of "Leave it to Beaver", and for what ever reason, this time around, she is the one that has that infamous "je ne sais quoi" going on.

What ever "it" is though, for me, its more "between us" than "about her". I can't always pin it down to any one characteristic, but I know it when I see it.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–42
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, casual sex
You should message me if
I suppose this pretty much all boils down to the simple fact that the "chemistry" is either going to be there, or it's not. That's not really the kind of thing you can tell from a profile on the interwebs though, so all I can really say here is that you should probably trust your initial gut instinct. If I more or less seem like your "type", then simply say as much directly, and I'll show you the same respect.

PS: I rate pretty much every profile I view, and if I rate your profile as 4 or 5 stars you can be pretty well guaranteed that I did so because I am confident that we would have a good chance of hitting it off, so the easiest way to figure out whether it's worth your time to bother or not is just to rate me back. If we get a 4 or 5 star match, you've got your answer.
