My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Texan native presently living the dream of the 90s in Portland. I enjoy skiing/hiking/the outdoors. Trying out new restaurants, travelling to new places and laughing with friends makes me happy. I am a diehard Texas Longhorns fan :)

I am attracted to people who are self actualized and believe in something outside of themselves. If you live an active lifestyle, and don't take life too seriously, we will definitely get along! I'm a lifelong vegetarian, and prefer to hang with people who can, at a minimum, tolerate my love for vegetables/animals.

I don't often come upon new (read: single) people in my day to day routine. I'm hoping that through this portal I'll be able to meet people outside of my network.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I originally moved to Portland to work at a startup. Too much stress coupled with 100 hr work weeks made me reconsider my career choice. These days I'm a scientist turned engineer working at a large semiconductor company (total opposite vibe from the startup). I get to wear a bunny suit daily, and I'm not talking about the playboy kind. I love the people I work with, the community I have managed to befriend, and I now have time to do things I enjoy. My friends say I am, creative, sharp, and outgoing (but many are engineers, so take the 'outgoing' part with a grain of salt). I now follow the mantra 'work to live' rather than 'live to work'.

One of the things I've long been passionate about is helping people get healthy through exercise. After my 'real' job lets out, I'm a group fitness instructor at a corporate gym and also teach at a larger gym in town. It's a rewarding gig, I love seeing people transform their bodies, and I get a kick out of torturing my friends when they make it to class ;)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Maximizing utility, fixing stuff (that is, after I've broken it), picking M&Ms out of trail mix, collecting hobbies.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Pop psychology and behavioral economics junkie

Music: favorite band is the Strokes.
Also like: Local Natives, Phoenix, Sufjan Stevens, Explosions in the Sky, Phantogram, Arcade Fire, Toro y Moi (other chillwave stuff).
I might also be slightly obsessed with Moby (mostly because of his ideals, a bit because of his music).

I don't watch TV or movies too much. Not because I'm anti-TV, but because I have the attention span of a 2 year old who suffers slight bouts of ADD (what with work/wikipedia/buzzfeed/life all competing for my attention). All of this has amounted to me being pretty bad at pop culture trivia and not 'getting' television references. I consider this to be the unfortunate Achilles heel of my upbringing/frugality. If you can school me on Seinfeld references or fill me in on what Snookie is up to these days, I'll totally be your friend.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Bicycle, backed up external hard drives, vitamix, wool, internet on a mobile device, a good read
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What our purpose in life is, how to give back, my silly hobbies, food, fitness, the paradox of material progress, & faith.

While I don't know much, I am certain that Truth does not exist solely within me (it has taken years of being a scientist for me to realize this). If you're a staunch atheist, we likely won't gel.
Humility is sexy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging/going out for dinner, cozy campfire gatherings catching up with friends, or working sometimes. Then there are times I'm in bed by 10 to wake up early for a hike, get away from Portland for the weekend, or to beat the Saturday farmers market rush.
I recently got into woodworking and find myself spending way too many Friday nights in the shop.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I arrange my sweaters in ROYGBIV color order.
Also, roughly 75% of the sweaters I own were knitted by me.
