My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a math guy. I'm also a rationality guy (in the lesswrong sense). I like discussions and cuddles and talking at people about math. Otherwise, I'm pretty introverted.

I'm currently in a long-distance relationship. I met my boyfriend on here! What I'm looking for now is friends, or for someone I can cuddle with.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Learning; trying to increase my stats, especially int and wis. I plan on going into math research. Because math. (Have I signaled enough that I like math? 'Cause I like math.)

I am currently a math undergrad at UBC.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Spinning pens.
Imitating chickadees.
Taking jokes completely seriously and explaining why they are wrong.
Making dry personal summaries.
Self aware humour that is also very dry.
Meta.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My left eye. That's usually where you look first when you look at someone. It is also fairly big for an eye, but don't worry, so is the right one. It balances out.

A smirky quiet person that is somewhat tall, sits strangely and apparently speaks in a way that suggests that I think about what I am saying; that is, slowly.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I like math textbooks! Seriously!

I generally don't consume a whole lot of other media. I play the occasional PC game, and sometimes I read web serials like Methods of Rationality, Worm, and Ra. I find that most of such brainy sci-fi or rationalist fiction rarely, if ever, features gay characters.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Math! The abstract-nonsensier the better. So: category theory, categorical logic, homotopy theory, algebraic geometry, and that sort of stuff.

I'm also a bit philosophical when it comes to math, more so than most math people. I'm fairly interested in foundations. It seems strange to just accept ZFC as the One True Foundations when there is no canonical choice of foundation. This is related to the next point.

Philosophy. In particular: epistemology (you can still believe in physicalism, science, etc. while doing away with the words "truth" and "existence." How? Left as an exercise for the reader. Or you could message me), philosophy of math as above. I'm a hardcore pragmatist, I stomp on all your metaphysics with the question "how can I observe the difference between where X happens and where X doesn't?"

Cuddles.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Reading math, calling one of my boyfriends, doing homework, reading blogs like Slate Star Codex (aka. the best blog on the internet).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably some of my beliefs. In particular, preventing existential risks (things that might make humans extinct) is the most important thing that we can be doing, and that artificial general intelligence is a fairly good bet for solving that problem in general. That's one of my focuses when it comes to math and philosophy.

You should message me if the sentence "I talk way too much about math" doesn't make any sense to you. I have very few gay friends, and would like some more, especially people with shared interests.

I am also looking for people that I can be physical with. My boyfriends are both long distance, and my laptop is a poor cuddle partner. A warning though, I am quite picky in this regard. While I'd love to be attracted to whoever I choose, I'm not. I probably won't be attracted to you if you are overweight, or are significantly older than me. I don't think I'm so interested in another relationship however, those are time consuming.

Protip: put a question at the end of your message to keep the conversation going.

Hello and Salutations! Welcome to my profile. This is where I put the self aware meta humour.
