I am scintillating, rippling, and giving away a yacht.
My Self-Summary
I write
hobby
literature for
kids of all ages. To get them excited about building stuff from
recycled scavenged materials. My
philosophy:
Redirecting the waste stream. Doing much with little. A reverse
peace-corps to learn from poor people all over the world. Learning
to live in minimum-consumption, maximum quality of life ways so
that the earth may live also.
How I get exercise:
kitesurfing,
windsurfing,
sailing,
building stuff,
dancing.
Funny. If you've been through much you know you've got to laugh at
what you can't solve.
Hard working. That's what it takes to accomplish anything. I like
to write and build things with my hands.
In great shape. It takes physical strength and good judgment to do
the
outdoor
sports and
travel I enjoy.
Hungry for knowledge - I read and listen/see hundreds maybe
thousands of
lectures and
books.
Smart - beyond the tests we took for school. That's what it takes
to understand this very complicated world.
Kind. Kindness requires empathy for others as well as
self-knowledge.
A good communicator. Teamwork requires excellent communication.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm taking time off from
starting companies to
travel, learn, and
attempt to create truly lasting value. To work on worthwhile
projects that are non-remunerative.
A machine I invented is used by all the car companies, all the shoe
companies, many architects, even high schools.
I
write a column for
a magazine and build how-to projects that I document online. When I
travel I do material culture
ethnography.
I’m really good at
Building
gadgets out of whatever is available.
I can teach you to
play guitar in 20 seconds
If we go
dancing I
can teach you to do a back flip.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm in motion.
I'm offering you some shredded coconut. That's what's abundant this
season (fringe benefit from a consulting gig).
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I listen to tons of
audio books while building
stuff
The podcasts at the
London School of
Economics and the
Long Now Foundation are
really good.
John Gottman (profiled in Malcolm Gladwell's "Blink") is the best
source of relationship advice I know of.
The six things I could never do without
Jackhammer Headphones to listen to
Audiobooks on
while
Building a finless plywood kiteboard
To go
Kitesurfing with pals.
My friends are incredible great people. If you are one you know
what happens when you put more together.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Philosophy was once the "love of wisdom".
Later it became logic, ethics, epistemology and metaphysics. Some
say it's any field where the methods are not yet good enough to
achieve predictable results. Economics recently got added to the
purview of philosophers because of the poor results achieved its
the practitioners.
Fish have
water.
We Americans are 5% of the world and we burn 30% of the
stuff.
Run the simulation. This situation is unlikely to continue.
On a typical Friday night I am
Throwing rocks at humvees (That was a joke, officer! It wasn't me!
:).
Dancing at a party, or building some ridiculous construction with
friends while the outdoor fireplace rages.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I really like hugs. I've even invented a new type of hug :)
I once posted an ad for hugs to "strictly platonic" on
craigslist.
I got tons of responses from prostitutes and robots working for
them.
Is that some new kind of platonic?
I haven't heard any stories about "strictly platonic" that didn't
involve weirdness. There should be another category on CL for
"strictly actually platonic"
You should message me if
you do what others only dream about
If you want a free yacht - I know of three or four available at the
moment.
