I am a man of eclectic tastes with a contradictory nature. I am equally happy staying indoors to read or travelling and visiting exotic locations. I have a science background but can also enjoy the wonders of the world on an aesthetic and esoteric level. I have one of those balanced minds that can be creative or logical dependant on the situation.

I would like to consider myself intelligent and worldly wise with a pretty good general knowledge from my range of life experiences. Partly I would say from being fairly well travelled (especially across the US, even having studied Marine Biology over there) however it has been a few years since I was abroad and there are still a lot of places I would like to visit.

I have a great fascination for the natural world and the study of cultures and mythology and would have loved to have been an archaeologist, Egyptologist or US Park Ranger (alas I wasn’t born in the states). I think this is where my appreciation for art and architecture stemmed from, with a preference of old or gothic, and therefore I love museums. I even ran a small gallery in my last job. UPDATE 10/9 - off to Italy in a week to finally see some of that history, art and culture I have always wanted to see!!

I wouldnt call myself a dreamer per se but I am creative and therefore I do like gaming as a hobby as this fulfils my imagination quota whilst satisfying my logic. But I am a bit of a perfectionist hence the reason it has taken me so long to write my profile.

I used to be more adventurous doing rock climbing, scuba diving (certified), swimming, orienteering, qui gong, archery, paintballing and clay pigeon shooting. These days it has pretty much reduced to swimming or the gym but I am looking for that spark back and maybe just need someone to share it with.

A few changes last year (no not a sex change) gave me a new lease on life. I must have been in a rut for the last few years so a change of job and accommodation broke me out of that and hence I am on here.

Rambling… the written kind not country walking.

My total lack of fashion sense! No, not really but I am certainly not a slave to fashion.
I like to think the first thing people notice is that I don't look my age. Cant quite tell if this is true anymore but I certainly don't act it.

I have a wide taste in movies, music and food. I don’t read as much these days but sci-fi or fantasy are my preferred choices. Terry Pratchett is my favourite author but others I read include Jack Vance and Raymond E Feist.

I like most music ranging from soft metal/rock to house to classical to country, though I am selective about R&B, Rap and anything too heavy. I have to say that the 80’s were my informative years and this is still my favourite era but I like to keep abreast of current music and do have a decent amount of recent tunes in my ipod though many are obscure. It is ironic that I like house club music as I cant dance for toffee! My country tastes are a throwback from spending time in the US.

I do like my US TV series, in particular comedies (The Big Bang Theory), sci-fi (Supernatural) and crime (Castle, NCIS) to name a few. I am more flexible with my movie viewing and watch most genres (favourites films include Bladerunner, Dune, Princess Bride and 50 First dates).

I do like food and have tasted many cuisines over the years and my obscure list would probably match something like the bush tucker trials of Get Me Out of Here, including brains, alligator, ostrich and squid rings, but to be honest I am happy with a good roast beef dinner with Yorkshire pudding!

In between what every man thinks of every 6 seconds I think about my next mug of tea, logistical nightmares at work and the latest song playing through my brain over and over.

Hmmm either that I like rom-coms or that I've been to a nudist beach. Cant decide!
