My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm just coming out of a long-term relationship that ended recently and amicably, but still has me questioning things. I know it might be a little soon to start thinking about the future but I'm optimistic and I know I'm at my best when I have someone to share life with...I'm not quite ready to start dating just yet, but I'm looking for friends first anyway.

I was raised conservative but now I'm proud to say I'm a liberal. If you're a Fox news junkie who likes to spout talking-points, we're not going to get along.

I'm fascinated by the South. Antebellum homes, sweet tea, gravel roads, blues music, the Delta, and the Civil War all speak to me and I try my best to listen as carefully as I can.

I'm not a materialistic person...granted, mostly because I don't have a hell of a lot of money, but also because I don't understand people who have more obscene wealth than they need.

I prefer a quiet dive bar, if such a thing exist.
I love hearing real musicians play their instruments.
I miss camping and canoeing...
Animals trust me and we quickly become best friends.
I stop at thrift stores and look for stuff even if I have no idea what I'm looking for - I'll know when I find it!
I'm remarkably unsophisticated...
Unfortunately, I think my sense of style is woefully outdated and impaired - but I'm a great fixer-up I guess
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I sell an enterprise software case management system for a local Decatur law firm and work/live right here close to the Decatur square and I love it! I recently relocated to the Decatur area from Oxford, MS (yep, I'm an Ole Miss fan) and I'm having fun reacquainting myself with the metro Atlanta area and I'd like to have someone to share it all with...
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
well, I'm really good at quaffing back a few pints of beer, I'm pretty good at playing bad guitar, I'm pretty decent at trivia, I have impeccable southern manners and I clean up pretty good too. I'm devilishly good under the covers and with a couple of days of not shaving, quite roguish...
I'm also quite clean around the house, not afraid to do my own laundry and iron, clean toilets and do minor home repairs.

You're NOT going to go raving to your friends about my cooking however (unless you actually like chili or warmed up pop tarts with the sprinklies on them) - I can whip up a hearty breakfast and I know how to cook a roast (looking at you, crock-pot) but to be honest, I prefer others cooking to my own.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Usually, it's my sense of humor/wit that comes across - that and that I look remarkably young for my age (a big plus I have found over the years)...

Now, what do women notice? I have no freaking clue whatsoever...it's a great question and I'm a little intimidated to know the answer actually.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite authors - Mark Twain (seriously, the man was a genius and 100 years before his time), Carl Sagan, Michio Kaku, William Faulkner, David Sedaris, PJ O'Rourke, HP Lovecraft, Sir Arthur C Doyle, Michael Crichton, Stephen King, Graham Hancock, Bill Waterson (points for you if you know who that is...) and too many more...recently, my favorite book has been "An Island to One's Self" by Tom Neale - just a remarkable story of going at it alone on an island and one I would highly recommend.

Movies - I LOVE a good scary movie and bad monster movies too! (2 rubbery monsters slugging it out over Toyko? Sounds compelling...I must watch.) Of course, I'm partial to good science fiction, comedies as well and old movies - especially if that old movie is starring Cary Grant! Father Goose, A Touch of Mink, Philadelphia Story...any of them!! I learned everything
(I think) I need to know about being a gentleman from watching Cary Grant.

Almost nothing is better to me on a lazy Sunday than to curl up on the couch with someone, surround ourselves with snacks, pull the curtains tight and just make a movie marathon of the afternoon and evening!

TV - Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, anything on the History/Science channel, Family Guy, old South Parks, Monty Python, Red Green, Food Network (especially Chopped), Dexter rocks, and I absolutely love documentaries, I could listen to David Attenborough read the phone book.

Music - I play a bit of guitar and back in the day, I would have told you that I'm destined to be a musician. However, my creditors and previous girlfriends assured me that it wasn't in the stars, so now I just pick around occasionally if I've had a few beers. Mostly classic rock stuff, alternative 90s stuff...I've seen so many bands, it's hard to say exactly what my tastes are - but it spans everything from Bluegrass to Led Zeppelin to Widespread Panic to John Lee Hooker and Elvis. As long as it isn't rap, I'll listen, groove and enjoy it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My acoustic guitar and music in general
My collection of fortean, science and astronomy books
My cup of coffee
The internet
My family and friends
Animals of all kinds
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Should OK Cupid organize a social gathering/event like I see advertised on TV for one of their competitors? I'd go...just saying.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have been fascinated with everything weird since I was a kid - you name it - Bigfoot, UFOs, Paranormal stuff, Pyramids, etc.etc.etc...they're fun to think about, they always evoke some kind of reaction with folks and I have several friends I keep hoping will be kidnapped by aliens soon - I'd like to help set up that meeting.
