My self-summary
I’m a warm-hearted and intelligent guy who is driven by professional aspirations, authentic connections with others, aesthetic experiences, and the deepening of knowledge. While I would say that I tend to express some enduring personal characteristics, I can’t deny that my sense of self is too malleable and influenced by my current context to box it up neatly in a summary!

I've noticed (as I’m sure you have) that a lot of people include their Myers-Briggs personality types on OKC. I’m almost assuredly an INTJ. I tend to be independent, pragmatic, logical, and creative. Although I may not appear to be on the surface, I am actually very unconventional and often see right through authority, spin, and sentiment.
What I’m doing with my life
Mostly trying to find a balance between building my career, pursuing my personal interests, developing relationships, and leading a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. It’s kind of nice because a lot of that stuff is beginning to overlap for me.

I just moved to Charlottesville in August! During the day, I’m doing my best to assist with the education of the young’uns as a school psychologist. On nights and weekends, I’m doing my best to make/listen to music, socialize, exercise, cook, play, read, and travel. Right now I’m stuck between applying for PhD programs and hanging on in the trenches for a while.
I’m really good at
conversation; communication; getting inside your head; blasting through bullshit; cooking; making music; joking around; grand strategery; aesthetic judgment; economizing
The first things people usually notice about me
Dashing good looks, keen wit, and alluring charm (at least that’s what my grandma tells me…)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music (interests of late): Tin Hat, Laura Marling, Sturgill Simpson, Bill Frisell, Beck, Kendrick Lamar, Robert Glasper, Snarky Puppy

Movies: Stanley Kubrick, Darren Aronofsky, Terrence Malick, David Lynch, Christopher Nolan, George Lucas

Books: general humanities, psychology, education, philosophy, science fiction, fantasy

TV (interests of late): True Detective, Big Love, Game of Thrones, Gilmore Girls, Vikings, Walking Dead, Silicon Valley, Democracy Now
The six things I could never do without
books

contemplation
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Boring stuff: I spend a lot of time thinking about my direction in life and how I can focus my efforts and values into meaningful causes. I think a lot about contemporary trends (social, religious, philosophical, psychological, mythological, scientific, economic, political, ecological, etc.) and how they reflect a past and future process in humanity's relationship with the world. I also think a lot about artistic expression.

Less boring stuff: food, vacation, free time, social gatherings, music, entertainment, etc.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working out the indentured servitude of the public sector, but otherwise getting into some form of fun, debauchery, or intellectual/spiritual/artistic stimulation.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not really private about many things because I like to talk about secrets and deep, dark places.
You should message me if
I should emphasize that I am mostly interested in making friends and finding activity partners in Charlottesville at this point. I’d love to get to know you, hang out, pick your brain, meet your pet(s), critique television shows, gallivant about town, philosophize, read at coffee shops, sample local edible and drinkable wares, etc. If romance ensues, great! But let’s not rush it, yes?
