To say that i am an Artist-Activist is not succinct. Rue it or glamorize it as you or i may, i am, most simply put, a Poet... i write, i read, i listen. i speak, i play electric guitar, i sing.
Ever since coming to SF in 2002, i have worked for non-profits. i have been with the same phenomenal, local agency for 3 years & i love my program because i see the most direct, tangible effects of any work i've done in the sector. When i lived in Manhattan i worked in Theatre & have made some of the world's best coffee & strongest drinks from Olympia to the Lower East Side to Capital Hill in Seattle. Perhaps that's part of why i rarely drink caffeine and almost never imbibe alcohol now, because, just as any drug dealer, i learned the first & most often violated rule of the trade, "don't get high on your own supply", the hard way. Or maybe it's because i already drank my share of micro & homebrew in Eugene, Portland, Colorado & the aforementioned & current localities, all the while performing noise, music & spoken word and committing acts of mixed media for love and anarchy. There are assuredly other reasons that the imbibing has ceased while the Poetry & Noise persist... i won't get into them here. Suffice to say i've not been deprived of depravity.
If you have read this far & can either relate or are at least mildly amused or curious, there is most likely sufficient affinity between us to precipitate a meeting of the minds.
Oh yeah... & i've partially cloned my DNA in a previous deep love affair, the result being a brilliantly charming 6 year old who thinks almost as much of the man she calls "Dad" as he thinks of her. This is of course very time consuming.
