My self-summary
So...

I moved to Boston for graduate school a couple of years ago and I'm totally loving it here. I've traveled to and lived in a lot of different countries, although I'm originally from Iowa. I'm a writer, and I currently teach writing at the college level. I'm also a fulltime MFA student in creative nonfiction writing. Anddd, lastly, I also volunteer teach an ESL class at a women's shelter (which is awesome, in case you're wondering).

I have a dog who goes everywhere with me. You may spot us on the T, on a bus, strolling around the city...

I'm a big runner, but I really love anything athletic. Going to the gym is exciting for me- not a chore. Being outside is even better.

I'm obsessed with books and other publications, as you would imagine a writer would be. I always have music or NPR on, although if I had a TV, it'd be great to have ESPN on in the background.

Definitely looking for someone intelligent and active, but most importantly I love to be around people who don't take themselves too seriously and can put up with me frequently laughing and being weird.

Lastly, you have to appreciate food. I'm at my happiest when I'm cooking and serving other people...having a glass of wine...I'm very independent, but very much like having someone (besides the dog) to take care of.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to live an interesting, off-beat life, I suppose.
I’m really good at
Making fried chicken. I've been a vegetarian for awhile, but I'm certainly not opposed to eating animals if it's done in a sustainable way.
The first things people usually notice about me
is that my hair is no longer dyed blonde. That was just a phase people, that was just a phase. Happily back to being brunette.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
it's always been really painful for me to try to name favorites. I have no idea why. So...(ughhhh)....poetry by Margaret Atwood, short stories by Amy Hempel, novels by Haruki Murakami and Hemingway, and memoirs/essays/other forms of nonfiction....just can't even go there. The music list is far reaching.
The six things I could never do without
1) The Beatles
2) books
3) Korean kimchi
4) playing fetch with my dog
5) morning runs/yoga
6) my passport
I spend a lot of time thinking about
you! Well, the hypothetical version of you.
On a typical Friday night I am
going to a reading, partying it up or eating popcorn on my couch.
