I am artistic, music-loving, and idealistic.

My Self-Summary

I'm an art college Illustration major, originally from Miami. I'm attending school in New York City, which has become my favorite city, mainly because it's so easy to get around and explore different places. Not to mention all the awesome restaurants and museums.

Anyway, I'm passionate about various forms of art, including but not limited to illustration, fine arts, music, creative writing, movies, books, comics and pretty much any other form of creative expression. I'm pretty open-minded about what constitutes art.

I consider myself open-minded -period-, really. I accept people for who they are and respect their opinions, even when those opinions differ from my own. To quote from Voltaire, "I [may] not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."

I'm very liberal, and I don't follow any religion. I'm tolerant of people who are religious, as long as they don't try to force me to follow their beliefs.

I love animals (especially my dog Lucky) and nature, and I do what I can to help the environment. A world without plants, animals, oceans, etc. would be a very sad one indeed.

I also love traveling, and have been to many different places. Some of my friends have even called me a "globetrotter". Some day I hope to see the whole world.

Oh, and I can't believe I haven't mentioned this yet, but I love concerts! I've even traveled pretty far for some of the ones I've gone to. Yes, being close to my favorite musicians means that much to me.

Soy fluente en español, chotto nihongo o hanashimasu, and English is my native language.

What I’m doing with my life

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm an art school student majoring in Illustration. Hopefully after I graduate I'll be able to find a nice career in the arts. Most likely I'll stay in NYC too, as long as I can find an affordable place to live.

I’m really good at

Drawing, Painting, Singing, Cooking, Baking, and attending lots of concerts.

The first things people usually notice about me

No clue, but feel free to point out anything you might notice.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events, 1984, Candide, Alice in Wonderland, the Pendragon series, the Fear Street series by R.L. Stine, The Golden Ass (a.k.a. The Transformations of Lucius), all of the Shakespeare plays I've read, and lots of other novels. I also like a lot of short stories, especially the ones by Ray Bradbury. And I read quite a bit of manga.

Movies: Repo! The Genetic Opera, anything Tim Burton, Forrest Gump, Juno, Persepolis, anything PIXAR (especially Up), anything Hayao Miyazaki, lots of Disney movies, SLC Punk!, Death at a Funeral, Little Miss Sunshine, Pan's Labyrinth, The Truman Show, the Indiana Jones series (yes, all four of them), the original Star Wars trilogy, Donnie Darko, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Matilda, The Holiday, Midnight Run, Dead Poets' Society, Star Trek, The Shining, The River Wild, What About Bob?, Zombieland, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and probably too many more to list. Also, Dr. Horrible, if that counts.

Music: X Japan, hide, hide with Spread Beaver, Yoshiki, Dir en grey, Zilch, Sugizo, Juno Reactor, Luna Sea, FAKE?, Buck-Tick, Nine Inch Nails, Jane's Addiction, Muse, Shiina Ringo, Apocalyptica, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Chopin, Mozart, Rachmaninov, Bach, Radiohead, Yoko Kanno, David Bowie, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Rolling Stones, E.S. Posthumus, Emilie Autumn, Vanessa Mae, Franz Ferdinand, The Fray, No Doubt, Missy Elliott, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Goo Goo Dolls, Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, Nirvana, Green Day, Maaya Sakamoto, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Smashing Pumpkins, Massive Attack, Portishead, Steve Conte, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Cranes, ohGr, Arctic Monkeys, Daisy Chainsaw, Delirium, Dresden Dolls, Electric Light Orchestra, Filter, Stone Temple Pilots, Supergrass, White Zombie, Unkle, Rasputina, Sex Pistols, Rage Against the Machine, Sublime, Flyleaf, Anna Phoebe, Gorgo Bordello, Io Echo, the soundtrack for Repo! The Genetic Opera, The Lonely Island, and tons of other stuff. I'll listen to pretty much anything really, though I'm picky when it comes to most of what's on the radio these days.

Food: Desserts, Italian food, and burgers. That might change a bit due to my recent motivation to cook more new things thanks to Food Network. I had to go on a diet for several months where I wasn't able to eat certain foods, but now that I'm off that diet I have an even greater appreciation of the foods I was deprived of during that time.

TV (Unofficial category that everyone seems to add): Family Guy, Supernatural, Spongebob Squarepants (mostly the older episodes), Heroes, Firefly, So You Think You Can Dance (my sister's high school classmate, Jeanine, won season 5!), and House. I also like anime, pretty much everything on the Food Network, and most game shows.

The six things I could never do without

Not including the obvious basic necessities (eating, drinking, sleeping, breathing, etc.):

1. Being able to create art
2. Music
3. My hands (seriously, for an artist, they're especially vital)
4. My senses of sight and hearing
5. Friends (I like spending time alone, but I must admit I need to spend at least some time around other people too)
6. Computers

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Well, I tend to worry and overanalyze things that usually end up being no big deal, which is a habit I'd like to break. If that doesn't count, I think about lots of things; my friends, my favorite musicians, my artwork, ideas for projects I'm working on, current events, etc.

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out in my room, or going out with friends. Sometimes I'll go out and do something fun on my own, like go see a movie or explore the city a bit. And if there's a good concert nearby, I'm so there.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

In social settings, I always worry about how I come across to others. Much more than I should. But I'm trying to improve on that.

You should message me if

Well I guess there's no real reason not to, but you should especially feel free to message me if:

-You're passionate about art and music (bonus points if you're an artist or musician)
-You and I have something in common
-You like J-rock (Japanese rock music)
-You're between the ages of 20 and 25.

I would really appreciate it if you take the time to write something of substance. It's kind of hard to reply to something like "Hey what's up?" or "Hi, my name is ___".
