I am, in no particular order, a burgeoning literary scholar, political lefty, fan of (mostly loud and aggressive) music and comic books, and occasional writer of fiction, poems, and songs. I appreciate a wide range of art, literature, and pop culture, often to the point of giddy enthusiasm.

Things I like doing: going to concerts, movies, plays, and art exhibitions; drinking coffee, beer, wine, or whiskey; reading aloud, listening to music, playing with pets, running (when I can summon the necessary motivation), and travelling to unfamiliar places.

I'm currently writing my dissertation. It would be pretty easy to slip out of social interaction, emerging only to write in coffee shops and research in rare book rooms. But I'd rather not go that route. Hence, I have created this account in the hopes of finding someone with whom I can go do fun things.

I like to think I'm pretty good at writing and teaching, since those are the things I do professionally. I sing in a band and am, if nothing else, entertaining. I'm not exactly good at dancing, but like it anyway.
