I like movies. I like movies with quality acting, and I like movies
with shitty acting but huge explosions.
Just saw American Hustle, and liked it a lot. Just saw Blackfish on
Netflix, and was really upset for a while afterwards.
He Got Game was on TV last weekend, and I realized I had forgotten
how good Spike Lee movies can be.
Glengarry Glen Ross. Pulp Fiction. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The
Iron Giant. Tombstone. Anchorman. Belly. The Godfather. Lost in
Translation. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Hoop Dreams. He Got Game. The
Warriors. Pi. In Bruges. Wall-E. Kill Bill Vol. 1, but not Vol. 2.
The Wiz. Lots of others.
I like IMAX, but don't like 3D. Am I the only person that doesn't
see much of a 3D effect?
Books: Murakami, Mieville, Gaiman, Saramago, Roth, Augusten
Burroughs, more...Currently working on A Confederacy of Dunces.
2666 is on my bookshelf, but I'm intimidated by it.
Recently finished the Keith Richards and Patti Smith biographies,
and I now have a much better appreciation for both artists. Any
idea what I should read next?
Magazines: New York. Wired. Dwell. Vanity Fair.
xkcd. damnyouautocorrect. Way too many tumblrs.
TV: I watch it. I enjoyed great shows like the Wire and the Cosby
Show, and Netflix is great for watching a whole series at once -
working on Breaking Bad and House of Cards these days.
I must admit that I really hate Law & Order SVU. The gruesome
crimes bother me.
The Black Keys. The White Stripes. The Black Crowes. Lenny Kravitz.
Wilco. Frank Sinatra. Jay-Z. U2. U2 featuring Jay-Z. Avicii. Led
Zeppelin. Vampire Weekend. I REALLY love when bands do an
unexpected cover: Snow Patrol covering Beyonce's "Crazy in
Beyond that, I listen to lots of other stuff. Suggestions for new
things to listen to are always welcome.
Food: I'll try anything once. Except maybe the roasted vermin they
sell by the road in Asia.
Some favorites: The fish tacos at Gran Electrica. The ramen at
Ippudo. The ice cream at Ample Hills.
