I am adjectified, objectified, and subjectable.

My Self-Summary

I think one would be most likely to engage me in conversation in a small and intimate setting. Tea, chocolate, and chess are among my favorite social lubricants, though I have a desire to get addicted to 1000 blank white cards.

I am a freak for plants. I am a landscape gardener, hoping eventually to be a landscape designer. I love science; I think the linnean classification system is a true work of genius. I love nature and find myself very much at home scrambling up mountains and wading barefoot in glacial streams.

Blue, more than any other colour, is the colour I would chose if the universe had to go monochrome.

I paint, I write, and I had a short, failed experiment at a webcomic.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently planning to start doing landscape design and consultation. It's the kind of job that wouldn't feel like a "job" because I'd love doing it.

I'm divorced and moved on now, and rebuilding my social life.

I’m really good at

Smiling. Communicating with plants. Using power tools (not really but getting better). Paddling canoes. Inventing things. Cooking. Critical thinking. Making music. (Well, that's debatable, but I love music so I guess I'll just have to get good at it eventually). I'm okay at chess. I find bars and clubs more annoying than anything, especially since I no longer drink alcohol or smoke and have hearing issues.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes, my height, and whatever eccentricity I am displaying at the moment. I have a 00-gauge plug in my left earlobe, and a piercing in my right cartlidge.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein, The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy in Five Parts by Douglas Adams, Desperation by Stephen King, The Ethical Slut by Liszt and Easton, the collected works of e. e. cummings, the Rama series by Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee, etc. Currently getting into comic books: started reading Y: The Last Man recently.

Movies: Lucid, Metropolis, Finding Nemo, Contact, Cube, Amélie, The Ring, almost anything by Tim Burton, M. Night Shyamalan, or David Lynch. Indie movies are often fun but I'm also a sucker for a big fancy production if it's well written. Looking forward to the RAMA movie that's in production.

Music: The Beatles, U2, Moby, Lamb, Portishead, Radiohead, Jann Arden, NIN The Crystal Method, The Chemical Brothers, Sarah Vaughn, Regina Spektor, Coldplay, Stravinsky, Richard Strauss, Marilyn Manson, etc.

Foods: Tofu, Veggie Lasagna, honey garlic anything, home-made bread, fresh veggies and fruit, nuts, chocolate. If it's vegetarian I will probably eat it.

The six things I could never do without

Love. Freedom. Creative outlet. Grace. Joy. The feeling you get when you feel understood, when you make a connection with someone else who understands exactly what you mean when you thought that no one would ever get it.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Plants. The Earth. The oceans. The mundane, the sublime, and most of the places where they intersect.

On a typical Friday night I am

I don't mind staying at home, going on a date, going for a walk, going for a hike. Whatever happens.

You should message me if

Any of the above made any sense.
