My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, I'm a California girl by way of NJ who found herself in Hoosier Land. I have been in Indy since August 2012 when I began my corps time with Teach for America.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I spend my days teaching high school English and nights getting a Masters of Teaching. Last year I changed my career from academia in Geography to k-12 education. Teaching has been the most challenging thing I've ever done and I feel like I should call my old teachers and apologize.

I feel like I've finally found a purpose. Everyday I stand in front of my students who live their lives on the edge of the abyss. I might not instill a love of grammar, but I can create a place where for 48 minutes each day, they have an adult that cares about and respects them. We'll get that grammar going eventually.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Playing cards. I don't play that often, but somehow, I'm really really good.

Making things. I can make anything that doesn't include carpentry. Baking, cooking, yarn stuff, sewing, origami, ANYTHING. Ikea is my kyptonite.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My hair. Reactions differ by day ranging from "Oh, how lovely" to "Did she make it that big on purpose?" Stupid DNA.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I love to read the classics, SciFi, and really any good piece of fiction. I am an avid reader- if I didn't read everyday, my students and I wouldn't have survived the first week.
TV: NCIS, Psych, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Sherlock, The Newsroom, The West Wing
Music: I listen to any type, as long as the piece is good. Getting to sing along is always an added bonus. If cars were powered by song, I would never have to fill my tank.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My iPad
My friends
Pen + Notepad
My bed
My books
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
If the zombie apocalypse were to actually happen, would I survive?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Spending time with friends or sleeping because I'm tired and will go have an adventure on Saturday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I would not survive the zombie apocalypse.
