My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I grew up in Charleston, been living in Raleigh since i was a teenager. For a short period i lived in Maryland near DC. I've been to though not lived in 41 other states plus Ontario. Most of that was work related so not too exciting, but it did involve seeing a very wide array of scenery.

I work in a restaurant. It's not what i want out of life, it works for right now. Ultimately career-wise it has to be automotive. Out of all the things i've tried that seems to be what i'm most comfortable doing and have the most innate skill in learning.

I'm a good cook and love baking at home. I tried to be a baker and although i wasn't bad at it, it just wasn't for me. I'd rather keep that as an at-home hobby.

I have 2 dogs, a 7 year old Shar Pei and a less than 2 year old hound mix. Mixed with what, i don't know, but he acts like a boxer and will punch and slap the shit out of you.

I've been playing guitar since i was 15. I wish i were better at it, like good enough to play in a band. Maybe i am and just don't know it. I'd be willing to give it a try.

When i was a kid i played football. I used to work for the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and played on their softball team one year. I like playing sports and outdoor activities. Camping, kayaking, or even just taking puppies to the park.

I never capitalize my i's unless it's for something school or business related or it begins a sentence. Lazy typist. Fast, but lazy
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
All things automotive, well most things.

When i have or can arrange a day free of responsibility i like to take a short road trip to a race track. Watching is fun but i prefer being at the starting line.

Exploring culinary dimensions when i have an audience.

Trying to raise my puppies.

Trying to stay active and in shape, going to the lake, pummeling Sahib. Sahib is our martial arts dummy.

Trying to keep up at least a reasonable amount of practice on my guitar each day.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cooking, fixing things, throwing, driving, moving heavy things, opening jars, carrying in all the groceries in one trip, looking at people incredulously, proof-reading papers for spelling and grammatical errors, using too many commas, listening more often than talking, video games, know..whatever
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have red hair (although it's been in a buzz cut for years now). I always look mad about something regardless of whether i am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I like fantasy books, things that put a colorful spin on reality. George Martin and Tolkien in particular. Also like some of the Star Wars books. I really enjoy books about military history and famous generals. People like Patton, Ghengis Khan or Augustus. Historical fictions, like Conspirata, Night of the Fox, or The Last True Story I'll Ever Tell. Jack London books. My earliest interest in reading came from classic old and ancient stories like Beowulf, The Iliad and the Odyssey, and Le Morte d'Arthur

Movies: There are tons of movies i like. I don't know where to start. I've seen Lord of the Rings a million times, and every Star Trek and Star Wars movie. Guy Ritchie movies like Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, RockNRolla. Jason Statham movies (many of which overlap with Guy Ritchie). Some comic book hero movies. Quentin Tarantino movies, Pulp Fiction being on the top of that list.

TV: Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels, Family Guy, Archer, Breaking Bad, Always Sunny, Grimm, Law & Order SVU, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, Top Gear, Trailer Park Boys, South Park

Music: I grew up listening to Jimi Hendrix and similar artists. I started playing guitar at 15 and that's kind of why. I usually listen to music that i would be interested in playing on the guitar. If i'd been more diligent with my guitar practice the last 14 years i'd probably be much better at it than i am now but i'm 100% self taught. Have learned how to play different random songs from Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and a few others. That's the sort of thing i listen to, as well as 90s and newer alternative e.g. Foo Fighters, Audioslave, Disturbed, Rammstein and so on etc

Food: seafood, Italian, Mexican (and mexican-ish), spicy foods, coffee, pastries, some French, some Chinese, sammiches
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
If the zombiepocalypse started tomorrow and i could keep the clothes on my back plus 6 things: Coffee, my car, doge (both), my guitar, and my shillelagh
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What is it all for?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Coming home from work at 11ish. I don't really know anyone that does anything late on Friday nights and i'm not really interested in clubs (too loud and crowded). I'd rather by playing pool at a dive and exchanging copious shit-talk with the bartender.

My normal Friday night usually happens on Wednesday instead. A group of us get together and someone spends 3 hours cooking some elaborate meal while the rest of us drink and watch the worst movies we can find on Netflix or DVD. Many insults are shared and someone usually ends up getting duct taped to their chair for the crime of falling asleep.
