My self-summary
I describe my relationship with my girlfriend as "the warrior queen and the princess." You can figure out for yourself which of the two is me.

I write for my work, which means putting creative, human touches on common writing than rather than building my own sprawling compositions. I love, love, love food, and I'm really interested in becoming a better cook through lots of practice at home. I am a night owl, but feeling some sunshine every day is important to me too.

My sense of humor is pretty vast, though it leans most heavily on dumb jokes and terrible puns. I performed my first stand-up routine at open mic night a little while ago, and played to a sympathetic crowd but I didn't stink up the joint! I'm a mixture of the sacred and the profane. I love good-natured debate and I'm always ready to get into cerebral stuff.

The wonderful someone I'm seeing is Lilithmnemosyne. She's a really special woman that I met here, as it turns out! We each still send folks messages from time to time and even engage in the odd little adventure, but she's got my heart.
What I’m doing with my life
Working remotely from my home for a company based in NYC and grateful for the chance to pick up my laptop, hop in the car and do work from anywhere.

Improving myself, from getting more organized to being able to more effectively read people to being able to cook whatever I'm interested in eating and things in between.

Making new social connections and strengthening old ones.
I’m really good at
Reading people, being analytical, a few different video games, being patient, writing, comma splicing, riffing on whatever is being said for the sake of making silly jokes, interacting with cats, making a handful of select dishes at home.
The first things people usually notice about me
The hat, the hair, or the awesome specs. Definitely not my boobs.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Siddhartha first and foremost. Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk, though that book had to be survived more than enjoyed. Freakonomics. Deep Economy, by Bill McKibben. The Omnivore's Dilemma, by Michael Pollan. The Making of a Chef, The Soul of a Chef and Ratio, all three by Michael Ruhlman. David Chang's Momofuku cookbook. Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time.

Movies: The Shawshank Redemption, 28 Days Later, District 9, WALL-E, A Few Good Men, The Shining, Hero, Road House (it is so wonderfully awful), probably others I haven't seen in a while.

Shows: Justified, Lost, The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, Good Eats, Iron Chef America, Top Chef, Dinner: Impossible, Damages, House of Cards, Futurama, NCIS, a couple of Star Treks, The X-Files, Millennium.

Music: Bruce Hornsby, Imogen Heap, BT, Pendulum, Tori Amos, Florence + The Machine, Bastille, Muse, Girl Talk, a capella music, Ricky Skaggs, The Flashbulb, Kasabian, David Gray, Orbital, Jay-Z, Daft Punk. I'm open to listening to virtually anything, but I do like for it to have decent production values.

Food: Virtually any cuisine that mixes sweet with savory. Pork or duck as an animal protein of choice. Vegetarian food. Thai, real Chinese, New Southern, classic Southern, New American. Indian, African, South American, Caribbean, French and real Mexican.
The six things I could never do without
1) My cell phone.
2) A friend.
3) My cat. 20 pounds of neurosis in a 10-pound fuzzy clawing thing!
4) Sweet tea!
5) My cookbooks. Oh fine, a cookbook? Negotiate up to a few?
6) A brick.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What makes people tick; what motivates them to make the decisions they make or to behave as they do. I like understanding people, and I like giving reasonable, compassionate advice when it's asked for, so I frequently think about this stuff in order to be more helpful.
On a typical Friday night I am
Tucking dollar bills into my underpants whil-

Er, working. I meant working.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That I'm a nerd who is into - and knowledgeable about - professional wrestling.

That the people who say "You'll have to wait and see!" or "It wouldn't be private if I told you, would it?" are disappointing because they are misreading fully half of this question. Have a little courage and own up to something!
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–45
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if
You've been aching for good conversation.

You think you know whether I'm the warrior queen or the princess in my relationship.

If you think that "being a man" means protecting and helping the underprivileged *without* resorting to the tactic of bullying anyone.

If you understand why that matters.
