My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I grew up on a farm in a small town in SE Michigan and I've been living in Portland since August 2000. I love this town; the coffee, the beer, the art, the river, the trees, the sense of community, the bike lanes, the mountains and the oceans and everything in between.

I like art.
Specifically movement art.
More specifically theatre, dance, and martial art.

I'm a blue sash in Mo Duk Pai Kung Fu, I play chess, study rock music history, constantly and perpetually listen to music, travel the galaxy, and ride my motorbike and bicycle all over the place. I can juggle and I can solve a Rubik's Cube. I can also regurgitate tons of random facts about rock music/rock bands.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Slinging pints and pursuing artistic nirvana.

I work part time bartending at a pub in Multnomah Village and work part time as a freelance theatre technician. I'm an actor, director, lighting designer, sound designer, etc. I work at many different theatre companies and venues around Portland. I also design lights for many different dancers and dance groups around town. I very much like lighting dance.

Kung Fu is a very large part of my life. It's a great physical activity and I learn something new in each class I take. I've also recently begun teaching Kung Fu to children. It's super fun and those kids really surprise me with their courage, coordination, and intelligence. I also teach basic self defense classes.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Practicing my sweet Kung Fu skills
Being able to pick out an awesome rock song
Bumping out the best dance party you ever heard
Making my bed
Chess (actually I'm mediocre at best)
Talking words
Pouring pints
Swinging babies around
Eating sandwiches
Singing along
Remembering band names
Turning this mother out
Saving the galaxy (numerous times)
Goofing off
Fixing things
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not sure. I don't normally ask people what they notice about me and no matter how hard I try I can't read minds or make people's heads explode. They probably notice that I'm an upright walking mammal with two eyes, a nose, and a mouth.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: High Fidelity, Catch-22, The Road, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Watchmen, Maus, the Catcher in the Rye, Game of Thrones, Foundation series, Walking Dead, etc. High Fidelity is my new Bible. If you've ever read that book then you know me well. I read a lot of Sci-Fi/Fantasy, fiction, plays, books about rock music, and comic books.

Writers I like: Philip K. Dick, Cormac Mcarthy, Hunter S. Thompson, Sam Shepard, Harold Pinter, Issac Asimov, Sherman Alexie, Alan Moore, Robert Kirkman, Roald Dahl, George R.R. Martin, Ursula K. Leguin, etc

Movies: Rushmore, Taxi Driver, Evil Dead 2, Empire Strikes Back, A Clockwork Orange, The Big Lebowski, Caddyshack, Donnie Darco, Kung Fu movies, etc. Rushmore is probably the most beautiful and hilarious and sad and inspiring movie I've ever seen. It also has one of the best soundtracks of any movie ever.

Shows: I don't watch television because the commercials offend me and I don't have cable. I like these shows though: Seinfeld, Metalocalypse, Firefly, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Venture Brothers, Arrested Development, Mr. Show, Chapelle's Show, Daily Show, Colbert Report, etc.

Music: The Rolling Stones, The Melvins, The Flaming Lips, Ween, The Beatles, The Velvet Underground, Faith No More, CCR, Hank Williams, Fantomas, Sepultura, John Zorn, Tom Waits, Tori Amos, Miles Davis, Kool Keith, Television, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, Slayer, Sage Francis, Willie Nelson, Nirvana, Nick Drake, Lyrics Born, Tool, Sam Cooke, Willie Dixon, Method Man, The Beastie Boys, Megadeth, Yes, Big Star, Cibo Matto, etc. I listen to a lot of music. The history of rock music is a subject I'm very into. I have a very open mind but I don't like all kinds of music. I'll try anything once.

Food: Sushi, Thai, Burgers, Mexican, Pizza, etc.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music
Literature
My Mother
Popcorn
A cool breeze
Laughter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My schedule. It changes weekly and is totally insane sometimes. If I don't constantly think about it I'd be completely lost. If I'm not thinking about my schedule I'm probably thinking about girls.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Slingin' pints at the pub or working on some kind of a show.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I used to love Huey Lewis and the News as a young adult and I still kinda do. I mean, "Sports" is a great album and has some of the best early Yacht Rock you'll find out there. They really captured the 80's yuppie lifestyle.
