My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm happy, healthy, and reasonably content. I've traveled for my work in architectural consulting and graphic design for 26 years, and am looking to spend more time enjoying all of the places I've gotten to know around the country, around the world, and in the beautiful bay area.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Work from my home, and travel. Swim, and cycle with groups (road and mountain). Volunteer as a writer's coach at the local high school, and love it! Toying with the idea of becoming a teacher as my second career.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening. Enjoying life, and seeing the humor in it. Kissing..(or so I've been told). Caring about and for those I love. Enjoying parenthood.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes. They're an unusual green-blue.

So many, so much...
Books by Dave Eggers, Malcolm Gladwell, Oliver Sachs, Haruki Murakami, Nick Hornby, Bill Bryson, graphic novels lately. Always loved Tom Robbins in my earlier years...Jitterbug Perfume, Even Cowgirls..great mix of irreverence and insight.

NPR junkie. Have a t-shirt from a friend that says that I've been listening since before it was cool, and it's true..

Movies...Boyhood, Selma, American Beauty, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Secret in Their Eyes. Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Steven Soderbergh.

Game of Thrones, House of Cards, and Blacklist lately. No cable, so all I get, media-wise, is online.

Music..jazz in many forms, some rock, classical, and ...jazz. Recent discoveries: Lianne La Havas, Robert Glasper, Jose James, Grizzly Bear, Victor Wooten (saw him at Yoshi's-awesome!). Regular standbys: Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett, Wynton Marsalis, Coltrane...there's a spectacular recording I just discovered of "A Lark Ascending" by Hilary Hahn...transcendent.

Food!! Love, love, love the chance to have fine food in all of the great spots around here.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot. it or on it.
My kids!
Poetry. Seriously. It's done a lot for me.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Am I really, really living the best life I can? Appreciating it?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Returning from the week's travels. Relaxing. Eating somewhere in Berkeley..maybe listening to local music at Yoshi's or Starry Plough. Or, pizza and a movie at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Well, it wouldn't be private then, would it? Ask me.
