I'm a vegan ex-neuroscience researcher turned
What I’m doing with my life
Well, this question is clearly aimed at answering what we do with
most of our time. Alas, once out of school, most of our waking
hours seem to be spent at work.
I think for most people, explaining your work is a chore, and
"work" is a thing most people don't seem to want to be defined
by—which seems unfortunate.
Why are people OK with spending most of their time doing something
they don't really want to be doing? I want to spend most of
my time doing work that I actually enjoy. Imagine
So, I recently quit my job at a prestigious neuroscience lab and
did a 180' in order to do teach myself programming to start my own
I think our work does indeed define us, and I am finally passionate
about what I'm working on—I can't imagine doing anything else
I’m really good at
- (Programming / Technology) + science in general
- Hyperfocusing/obsessing—or the flipside—not giving a fuck
- Poker (Texas Hold 'Em)
- Long walks on the beach
- Having fun
The first things people usually notice about me
Not sure how to answer this without sounding completely
narcissistic (but pretty much all answers to this question are
The first thing people usually notice about me is probably that I
"look like I workout."
It's because I do—indeed—work out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Most nonfiction books (I like learning new
stuffs). A recent mind-blowing favorite was "The Beginning of
Infinity" by the quantum physicist David Deutsch. In terms of
fiction, another recent fave was "The Hitchhikers Guide to the
Galaxy"; I love smart old-school sci-fi (e.g. Asimov et al), and am
also totally into Ayn Rand—particularly Atlas Shrugged.
Movies/shows: I hate the idea of watching sports
or "reality" TV. I'd rather actually experience real-life vis-à-vis
making my own life awesome. I do watch lotsa documentaries
Music: My musical tastes include everything from
rap to electronica to classical. I go through phases though,
current one is pretty dubstep and jazz heavy.
Food: As to food.. well, I'm vegan and am a pretty
good cook. So I eat any style of food or dish that strikes my
fancy, after properly veganizing it of course.
The six things I could never do without
- Gym membership
- Good craft beer
- American Apparel Tri-Blend Tees
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Business, science, technology. Nerdy things in general.
On a typical Friday night I am

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I try to be transparent about everything. Ask me something you'd
think I'd think is "private" and I'll happily answer.
You should message me if
