Hi and thanks for stopping by to say hello. I'm a person who enjoys my people. Cooking a nice meal for a bunch of friends or family is a real treat for me. And if I want to go to my happy place, there's nothing that beats a good jam session or concert outside. I've worked in the field of education for a very long time and even though I moved into administration about 5 years ago, I still find it very satisfying work. I think it's because I keep learning new things every day. I'm just getting back into hiking and looking forward to traveling more in the years ahead. My geek flag flies regularly with my love of British sci fi and comedy shows and reading all sorts of science fiction and fantasy. As you can see from my photo, I usually play the stand up bass. But I've been known to get out my old guitar and fiddle too. I like all that mushy stuff...holding hands, kissing, flirting, etc. and I hope to find someone to practice them with. We may be getting older but I think the best is yet to come.

As I mentioned before, I'm particularly fond of science fiction and fantasy novels. But I've also really enjoyed writers like Wendell Berry and Ivan Doig.
I do love going to a good movie and I'll watch just about anything...except slice and dice movies.
It's been a few years since I've been to anything other than community theatre. I think the last big one was Spamalot.
Music is a big topic of discussion. I've played everything from vintage jazz/swing to Hawaiian music. I'm also in love with all sorts of Americana especially in the bluegrass, old timey and old country western genre. I'm kind of open minded about music but it does have to be good.
Food is good! I like trying out a new recipe and finding cool little grocers who sell specialty foods.

I like to have a nice dinner at home or at a good restaurant with friends or family and then watch a good movie.

I do read a self help book every couple of years...but don't tell anybody. I don't think they're working.
