My self-summary
Be the Spock to my Kirk.

New News: Professional development tip, if your poster sucks just say you have no budget and that you are the only person in your department!

I'm basically a put together woman who enjoys her life but would like to share it... the cat is fine but she doesn't take to well to cuddles.

I am very friendly and can be seen as 'out going' but at heart I'm an introvert, in that I need my solitude and quite time in order to recharge and regroup.
I love a good conversation about almost anything.
I like my job and will nerd out on you about old documents and information.
I don't like to run, I don't get marathons and I'm not quite sure how all of this became popular while I was working two jobs... I think I missed a memo some place.
I love creating things, in any form really, from cooking to painting to writing and random little craft projects.
I love reading science articles off of tumblrs that I follow.
I am a true DMVer in that I see every one of them every working day!
My parents used to make my sister and I go camping as kids so they wouldn't have to pay for hotels on vacations (it works, a tent and a 10x10 piece of grass are cheaper than a hotel room) so I don't have the fascination with 'camping and hiking' that a lot of Okcupiders seem to have.
I enjoy cooking and drinking cheap wine.
I long to be a coffee snob but my wallet tells me to put down that European wanna be coffee and get what ever is on sale.
Sometimes I miss the mid-west and my hometown, then I read the 'paper' and no, I end up being very glad I got out when I did.
I often wonder how I can make a decent amount compared to everything and still go... wtf, I know I'm not wasting my money! (I think this is simply the burden of my generation.)
What I’m doing with my life
"I became an archivist because I am nosy." - quote from a former boss and a kick-ass lady. This is why I do what I do. I am endlessly curious about everything. Seriously, you could be a worm gardener and I would ask you a thousand questions about it.

Attempting to do more creative writing. I mostly do poems but am trying to nail the art of short story or novel. *sigh*
I’m really good at
I can read situations pretty decently though I have a bitch of a time figuring out how to make them go my way.

“ Don’t settle. Don’t finish crappy books. If you don’t like the menu, leave the restaurant. If you’re not on the right path, get off it. ”
Chris Brogan
Trying my hardest to live this way.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am fluffy and friendly :)

Or at least that's what I presume most people are looking at, hi... you are not thin, ohh and you also speak in a loud voice. I don't mind if you tell me to be a bit more quiet, I blame theater in high school for that, or simply yelling tends to be a form of communication in my family. I also tend not to be 'office politics' with my friends, if I like you then I like you, I'm not looking to advance my career or social status by knowing you, I just want good friends.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A) I have a ton of favorite books but here are just a few of them that I reallllllly like: Glory for Me, I was Amelia Earhart, The Sex Book, The Blind Assassin (I adore M. Atwood, anything by her is good in my book), Columbine, Stiff, Valley of the Dolls, Still Missing, The Hunger Games, and fan fiction... I have no shame, some of it is really great stuff!

B)Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Bridget Jones's Diary, Sliding Doors, Italian for Beginners, Kissing Jessica Stine, The Best Years of Our Lives, Notorious, Match Point - I tend to like Woody Allen as long as he isn't in the movies.... he freaks me out in that... dude you are wayyyy to into teen chicks to be anything other than creepy.

C) I'm pretty much open to anything and listen to most things. I listen to lyrics and find the poetry in them, then listen to the actual music.

D) Im a foodie, Ill try anything once!! Oddly enough for a midwest white girl Mexican is a comfort food as well as a good cheeseburger and a nice steak. I love Indian and Mediterranean food, (goat and lamb yes please) and as a East Coast transplant have a healthy love for fish and crab :) I realize this is meat heavy.... eekk love the veggies too just ... I learned how to cook heavy mid-west/minor south style and the things I tend to do off the top of my head are steaks and fish and chicken... but I do love to cook veggies and such! I just need a recipe or something.

E) T.V. - I was forced to cut the cable cord and have sense learned I watch more TV than I thought I did... sadness. I miss watching sports and good cooking shows most of all but I figure I will either get it back or buy a better computer soon that doesn't freak out anytime I want to stream. A few of my favorite shows though are Star Trek - Grew up on TNG but have a love of TOS and Spock... accidentally fangirled when I found a geek store in Belfast and scared off some of the locals when I found Spock ears... not my best moment, Mad Men

F) Art! Loveeee Frida Kahlo, Edward Hopper and Picaso are a few of my favorites, but I love going to art museums and finding out what strikes me. :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Thoughts peppering about lately: Job hunting ... been going on a lot of job dates. Some of them are quite nice, they take me out to dinner, ask me questions about myself and what I like to do and answer me when I ask them about who they are. Some of them don't have everything I'm looking for and I like a lot of them and would really enjoy if I could combine many of them into one but sadly, I can not. That being said, I think one is really good. They flatter me, they challenge me, they make me question how I can be a better person and even though they aren't perfect, I think I might just like them enough to stick with them for a bit.

That being said, it has been a rough few months to get to them and I totally found them on accident... humm maybe that's what will happen people dating too!?!?
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, watching TV, playing on the net, pissing off the cat... you know, typical people things. Actually I really love just going to dinner and talking with a few close friends, I like going out but at the end of it all I tend to be a bit of a home body and think a great night is a bottle of wine and a wonderful friend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I would eat cat or dog if cooked properly... and lets face it, when they are cooking Guinea Pig in Peru on the Discovery channel, that stuff looks like all sorts of tasty.
I’m looking for

  • Ages 28–39

You should message me if
I'm 32 ... and am looking for someone who has the basics figured out. I look at the side bar first to see career and kids (I'm not sure if I want any so I'm looking for like minded on that, open to it but don't have any.)

Word to the wise - I like conversation and intellectual stimulation which means if you send me an email with 'Hey' or "Wz up BB" I don't even look at the picture I just delete. Because it's obvious we wouldn't hit it off anyways.

Message me if you want to share something.
