I am impassioned, idealistic, and easygoing.

My Self-Summary

I work as a social worker, like to go out and hang out with my friends, and enjoy meeting new people. I love movies. I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, love the water, am willing to try new things, and love summer. Spoken word and poetry inspire me. I'm a transfer from the east coast, but I love Seattle. I enjoy passionate conversations about anything from movies to gender roles or social structure. I'm pretty much an open book.

I'm not good at knowing what to say when I message people. If you get a lackluster message from me, it's not an accurate reflection of me in real life. I'm much more interesting than that.

What I’m doing with my life

I work as a Housing Case Manager for a great non-profit. I'm happy to be doing direct service in conjunction with an awesome support team. It's also a bit lonely since I don't get to hang out with my team much. Last year I pared down some areas of my life to give me time to explore new things. I resigned from my role on a City of Seattle Commission. I'm not taking any classes. I moved into a new apartment, and I'm enjoying more stability.

Trying to find time to read for fun and catch up on movies.

Working.

Playing too much Shadow Complex, Sims3, or Professor Layton 2.

I’m really good at

Getting along with different kinds of people, Connect Four, Scrabble, baking, giving hugs, finding useless information on the internet, forgetting things, making office publications, sleeping, kissing, cuddling, helping people, beating Plants vs. Zombies.

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile. Sometimes my hair.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Middlesex, The Ender's Game Series, The Giver, His Dark Materials Series, the Harry Potter Series, Drinking: A Love Story, A Child Called It, Prozac Nation, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, the PostSecret books, Love In The Asylum, The Mismeasure of Man, and lots of others that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Movies: The Shawshank Redemption, Life as a House, Serenity, Hotel Rwanda, Stranger Than Fiction, Ghost Town, Charlie's Angels and sequel, Pride and Prejudice (not the newest one), Crash, Hot Fuzz, Van Wilder, Back to the Future Series, The Usual Suspects, The Matrix Series, Oceans Eleven, Fight Club, Brokeback Mountain, Stardust, The Pursuit of Happyness, The Dark Knight, Slumdog Millionaire, District 9, Gran Torino, The Hangover, most movies with Ryan Reynolds, Jason Statham, or Hugh Jackman, etc.

Music: Blessid Union, Choklate, Maxwell, Alicia Keys, Melissa Etheridge, Nina Simone, Coldplay, Matt Nathanson, Howie Day, Jesse McCartney, Portishead, U2, Three Days Grace, John Legend, Melissa Ferrick, The Shins, Sarah McLachlan, Vendetta Red, Say Anything, The Fray, Ray Lamontagne, Flight of the Conchords, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Lizz Wright, Incubus, and a lot of other stuff.

I like House, M.D., Heroes, The Office, and shows that involve dancing.

Food: Sushi, Thai food, cinnamon rolls, Kenyan food, Mexican, pizza, gyros, chocolate, donut muffins, mango sorbet, pork buns, french toast, strawberries, cake, pasta, cold sesame noodles with peanut sauce, scallion pancakes, etc.

The six things I could never do without

Friends, family, chapstick, kindness, computer, phone.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future, human behavior, the state of the world, why some people feel the need to take the unmovable position that they need to change someone else's personal beliefs (values), why I can't stop procrastinating

On a typical Friday night I am

Trying to decide what to do with my night. You might find me at a movie theater, a party, a restaurant or bar, a game night, or at some sort of performance. I like casual get-togethers with friends. I miss dancing. I used to go out dancing all the time. Sometimes I stay home and watch movies or do something else that is relaxing.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I enjoy cheesy pop music in moderate doses.

I can be quiet sometimes when I first meet people, but once I get over it I am a very social creature.

Informed, intellectual conversations are a turn-on for me (provided I am interested in the topic of discussion).

You should message me if

You want to, for any positive or neutral reason. If you are at all intrigued by something in my profile. If you're interested in a new friend. If you're interested in dating. If you want to go dancing or to a show. If you want a walking, exercise, coffee, tea, or museum buddy. I'm pretty friendly.

You want to improve the state of the world today.

You have never been to the Big Picture movie theater in Belltown and want someone to go with you.
