My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm bipolar, I have a good relationship with my mother, I have great teeth and great shoes ;-).

I love observing and analysing people. At concerts, I like to turn away from the band and take a good look at everybody around me. While having a conversation, I often find myself analysing WHY and HOW people say things and end up missing the WHAT.

I am completely intrigued by human language. It annoys me when I hear people talk in a language I don't understand (and sadly, this still happens A LOT). When on holiday, I spend a lot of time trying to learn bits and pieces of the native language. I've even grown the habit of buying a children's book before I leave.

I'm an addict, my addiction being music. I really have a hard time surviving without. It happens that I'm late for an appointment, because I just couldn't stop listening to a specific song.

I am direct, analytical, and laid back
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
PhD in speech recognition
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm pretty good at recognising songs and faces, but I'm terrible at names. I seem to have a weird talent for spotting typing mistakes. I'm also very good at making annoying comments about this :-).

I'm very bad at time though.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've been told I have a very expressive face. Apart from this, I guess my dark hair and thick eyebrows make me look a bit southern. People have mistaken me for a French, Italian, Spanish and even Turkish guy. A good reason to learn these languages ;-).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

(a) Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, Haruki Murakami's Spūtniko no koibito, Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven, Louis Paul Boon's Menuet and I must admit I'm a real fan of JK Rowling's Harry Potter books as well.

(b) The Power of One, Braveheart, Ghost World, Cidade de Deus, Gladiator, Dead Poets' Society, Les choristes, 12 Angry Men, La Meglio Gioventù, A Beautiful Mind, Amistad, Before Sunrise, Mulholland Drive, The Princess Bride, I am Sam, Cider House Rules, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Elephant, Garden State, Old Boy, Rules of Attraction, Jean de Florette, Manon des Sources, La Vita è Bella, Any Way The Wind Blows, Bin-jip, ...

(c) I guess my music taste is rather extraordinary, because there's not really a specific genre I like. When I was a teen I mostly listened to (usually commercial) house music (Scooter, Cappella and the likes), Dutch kleinkunst (Herman van Veen, Stef Bos) and classical music (Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven), being influenced by my friends and parents. When going to university I started developing a liking for Rock, Electro, Punk, ... and even Samson & Gert :-) I still like what I used to like though, maybe out of nostalgia, who knows. Anyway, it's a lot of fun being able to appreciate all this! I wish you could all be so lucky :-). Here's some more music that you should try: Muse, RHCP, The Shins, Flogging Molly, The Dresden Dolls, Moloko, Air, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Billy Joel, Heather Nova, Tori Amos, Magnus, Stijn, Daan, Ozark Henry, Enya, Axelle Red, Belzébuth, Jacques Brel, Les Cowboys Fringants, and many film soundtracks eg Amores Perros, Braveheart, I am Sam, Gladiator, Le Grand Bleu, Rob Roy, A Beautiful Mind, Garden State, ...

(d) Almost anything. Try offering me tuna.
