My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I teach photography and I make fancy coffee for people. I thoroughly love both jobs. I recently spent three months in Iceland, on two different artist residencies. I finished my MFA in San Francisco in May of 2013. I am a visual artist, my focus being in photographic arts as well as making artist books. I use to manage a fine dining restaurant in San Francisco but quit for my travels. I grew up in Logan Square, then lived in Boston for 8 years and in San Francisco for 2 years.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Applying to teaching positions all over the Chicagoland area. Just recently found out that I am a candidate in the final selection for a Fulbright, fingers crossed!

Recently completed my MFA in hopes to teach. Actually looking forward to the fact that I will have to probably teach adjunct for many years at dozens of schools until I have the possibility of being a full time professor. Other than than, my main focus is to maintain my studio practice (creating my art) which I have been going strong with for the last 8 years.

I also have a travel bug and have a strong desire to see as much as possible. I am hoping to spend the next year traveling around the states a lot to see places I have yet to. Too many places though!!!!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Creating things. Challenging myself and others. Making artist books. Conversation. Making coffee. Photograms. Thinking outside of the box. Street smarts. Navigating. Planning. Listening. Google search.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My Beard. Oh, my socks for sure!

Books: Most of the books I have are photo/artist books. I did love Just Kids by Patti Smith. A Filed Guide to getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit. Just finished the Hunger Games trilogy. Currenty reading three books, little by little: An Incomplete History of The Art of Funerary Violin, Swann's Way, and On Photography by Susan Sontag.

Well, I also really love the Harry Potter Series and I have completed it twice. But via books on CD! Nothing like it.

Movies: The Thin Red Line, Time Regained, In the Mood for Love. The White Ribbon. Was recently on a sports movie kick and watched every one on Netflix. Particularly loved Breaking Away!

Music:

Arthure Russell

Instrumental. Eluvium. Hammock. Sigur Ros. Balmorhea. M83. Smiths. Dead Mau5e. Mum.

Joanna Newsom.

Red House Painters. Bibio. ODB. The Lawrence Arms. Elliott Smith. Austra. The Notwist. The Album Leaf. Wild Nothing. Moody stuff.

Death Vessel's new album is really amazing. Recorded in Iceland :-)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Art. Coffee. Snacks. Friends. Dogs. Traveling.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I constantly think about images I have yet to make. Things that evoke or move me. I internally sing a lot. Where I would like to travel. Artist residencies I should apply to. I think about the fragility of life and how I need to stop wasting so much time when I'm being lazy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Friday night is kind of a meaningless thing to me. I dont map out my plans and ideas around it. Its a night like any other.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
These are things I spill out after a few months. You have to pay the toll!

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You can enjoy silence.

If you want to see art, music, or want to try new things and see new places. Try new food. Watch youtube videos and laugh. Go for drives without an agenda.

I love to learn through others and feel challenged and pushed. I want to meet people who feel the same.

Also, while 60 percent of my profile talks about art, that does not mean you have to be an artist for me to be interested in talking!
