My self-summary
I am divorced high school teacher with 2 children. I have many interests: literature, music, sports (mainly soccer), languages. I'm looking for someone who I can talk to: that's the basis for a good relationship. Everything else is important, but if you don't connect on an emotional/intellectual level, then there's really nothing there.

I am politically and socially liberal, and although I'm not a political person, I probably need someone who agrees with me for the most part when it comes to these issues. So, if you're a pro-lifer or republican, we won't have much to talk about.

I have been lucky enough to travel extensively in my life, and always on a low budget (meaning I usually worked wherever I went). I have lived in Mexico, Venezuela and even in Eastern Europe. After the wall came down, I was able to teach English in Slovakia for a year--the most unforgettable year of my life, probably.

About my personality, I guess I'd have to say that I enjoy to laugh. I know life is a serious matter, but so is enjoying oneself.
I love my job, b/c kids have open minds and it's refreshing to work with individuals like that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love to read, and I love movies. In college, I majored in English (but that's not what I teach) and so have a love of literature. Independent movies usually have something to say; I love French cinema because they place a high value on dialogue and in uncovering the deeper motivations of human behavior. To know what I mean, check out "Olivier, Olivier" and "The Vanishing" (French version, of course).

Movies: Little Big Man, Chinatown, Persona, Blue
Novels: As I Lay Dying, Absalom! Absalom! (love Faulkner),
Beloved, Brothers Karamazov

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How they get those holes in Swiss cheese.
On a typical Friday night I am
trying to guess how many ice cubes are in my freezer.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once swallowed a live bee.
You should message me if
I interest you.
